My favorite air warrior memories are the sound of the dial up connecting to AOL.  Then the moment of truth as to whether you had or did not have a connection (that small window of silence).  Then the moment of fury when you received a phone call that booted you because you were to cheap to pay for the widget that ignored incoming calls whil online.   :salute

I do miss the A26 though, that was one fun ride.
Lol, that's my CURRENT memory

KILL MACRO"S were cool

"Dun dun Daaa! another kill for Capt. /IT\ and his Amazing Yak!"

"/IT\ Kills!!! ///oo\\\"

I miss the macros too. The above were mine but some were pretty damn creative and amusing

One of my most prominent AW memory was when I first started playing. I took off in a P38. immediately upon takeoff I spot another plane and proceed to shot it down. Oh how proud I was. Right up to the point where I was told I had shot down someone from my own side. lmao

I also remember on AOL in order to get people off the game. they would have a little inactivity window open up and you  would have to exit the game ot turn it off.
Till  someone wrote a little widget that let you respond to it without exiting the game

Cheaters suck imo  :aok

I couldn't agree more, can't stand cheaters. When I found about this I posted and made quite a big stink at the time.
Not long after that it was fixed.

BTW... ID ...I was in the JG27 at the time. I don't remember ever hearing about this from Zaz. I did how ever hear about it from of the squad members. It wasn't polite and was in reference to a 38 squad :)
I definitely considered it cheating and I don't think as many people as you thought new about it. As after my post I was approached by a Mod askin how it was done <SNO> i think. I screamed bloody murder. As a few hear will remember.

Mater fact if this happened today in AH, I would call HT personally and tell him.  :aok

The squads kill macro at the time was "HORRIDO"

A cool thing I remember was the "Bomb Ride" you could strap yourself on the bomb and ride it all the way down. You could also carry supplies in your fighter and deposit them at the end of your run to a damaged field.

Okay..Add 2 Country's at once, Australia and France next plane update Add ...CAC Boomerang and the Dewoitine D.520

Meg the E mail from Zazen wasn't about any other squad, just good info on how to get the best qualities out of the A8,which he flew a lot.The way I figured out it was o.k. to use the "crystal cockpit",was because many were using it against me!For all you folks that say leave Air Warrior go,it's history,I say up your kilts!Long live the memories of a great game!

Rendering your plane invisible to yourself?.......pfffffffft...........f or quite awhile I would get this little screen freeze in AW and suddenly my plane would go invisible to everyone but me.  My wingy thought I discoed while we were flying along the first time it happened and I told him no I was right here still.  He couldnt see anything.  My apologizes to anyone I tortured with this. Especially after I would get the message "IWASLOOKINGEVERYWHEREANDICOUL DNTSEEYOU!!!!!", and I would answer back with, "Dude you gott check your 6 more often"    :devil

I feel just horrible about that now  :bolt:

 :lol I remember this Zoney.

In Aw3, you would also auger your bombers before letting the enemy kill you since there were no proxies in Aw3.  So your score card would always read Last Killed By:
And it was blank.   :lol

180's could do this cool thing in AW (Zazen was the master at it) plane would act like a tennis ball bounced off a wall when doing a 180--in reality, ya put it into a flat spin, and recover at exactly the correct time (Full Realism arena) Utterly impossible to defend against

That used to infuriate me.  Do all the work to work someone down and then they spin turn ya.  Grrrrrr.

I never knew about the crystal cockpit, I remembered reading that you had to have a certain percentage of the default cockpit art on the screen no matter what.  I took that as being legit and never questioned it.  I always though having the cockpit art was pretty cool, except that the chipped paint on the canopy frames and the slightly crooked gunsight glass in the Corsair used to bug the hell out of me.

Zazen was nearly always the top scorer every month. The enemy actually had Zazen hunts,lol!9bal was my greatest antagonist. He could get me mad faster than an Idaho minute! He could really fly that Hawg!Pal was another one.He shot all the flak down at a field, and then made mince meat out of me later with his D9.We had a good squad with a lot of really nice guys.Pleasant memories!

Yea, one thing I miss from AW was the, "who killed you last" and "who you killed last" part of a players' scorecard. Back then I was younger and my eyesight was much better...I started AW when I was 18, I am 40 now, you do the math... :old:

Every camp I would have a personal game with myself to see how long I could keep my, "who killed you last" box empty...The fact that I was hunted mercilessly made this quite difficult to say the least.

It got to the point where people..like *cough* Badboy...*cough* would use multiple accounts on multiple computers to vector themselves to me in the hopes of scalping me... :O That puts a whole new twist on being a survivalist.

AW's buffer where it told who you killed as you killed them meant that everyone had a good idea where you are hunting real quick and headhunted the crap out of you in return. My record was 353 consecutive kills without a death. I never finished any entire camp without getting killed by a player though. Once I died only once to a player, but had 3 augers for a total of 4 deaths to 578 kills...

The reason(s) I could do that in AW and not AH apart from the fact, I am old now, is HO's and to a lesser degree, collisions. In AW there were a lot more pure fights because there were no collisions almost all HO shots were thrown out by the game, so you really had to maneuver for a shot. In AH really, regardless of how badly someone sucks, they can always just point their guns at you and spray from any angle once they are in range and have a chance to knock you down without knowing how to fly at all.

How's it going man?  I remember many times noticing a very high dora and just always assuming it was you.  I tried to keep busy fighting multiple guys much of the time, so I didn't seem to get picked quite so much by you.  Good times back then.

How's the kid?

hahaha where is DEL to read about the Glass Cockpit that never happened.

I'm guessing this is FlyinFin with an everlasting woody for the Nomads.

I never said it never happened, you made (and still make) constant accusations that the Nomads used it . Not only did I not use it, I couldn't even use the default 51 frame on my 38, I would end up flying my P38 like a 51 because of it. It is ok, every time I kill you in here I get to use my macro 'FlyinFin, did my glass cockpit help me that time?'

As Slapshot has said, "There is always a small microcosm of people who need to explain away their suckage."

CryinFin is definitely one of them.

I've never heard of the "crystal cockpit."  I suppose it might have existed, but I always enjoyed the P-38 artwork.  I briefly considered switching to the more SA-friendly P-51 cockpit while flying the P-38, but it didn't "feel" right.

I don't recall anyone in the Nomads flying with or discussing the use of a crystal cockpit while I was in the squad.

I actually never used the crystal cockpit.

Probably would have if I knew how to do it.   :bolt:
