X45 and Analog Rudders
« on: December 28, 2001, 10:16:00 PM »
Ok  I read on how to get these things to work together.  The problem is that I heard I need to do a NukeUSB first.  Is this true??

I tried to do a Nuke USB but the program does not recognize my USB X45.  I figure it is not looking int he right place.

Here is my setup.  My X-45 USB plugged into the Mobo, but the Analog pedals are plugged into the Hercules GTXP.  It seems my computer does not recognize the USB on the GTXP.  Do I need to disable the USB on the Mobo first?  Or a better question how do I get my system to recognize the USB ports on the GTXP?

I need help.  I need the pedals for this rocker arm on the X-45 is not cutting it with me.  To used to pedals.   :(

Thanks in advance

OK.  I'm not sure which Operating Sys you are using, but I am using Win98, and this is what you have to do to get analog rudder pedals to work.  You *cannot* plug them directly into the gameport, Windows does not recongize them.  What you have to do is this.  Go out and by the biggest piece of toejam ANALOG joystick.  Plug the pedals into the gameport, and the joystick into the pedals.  Then, goto game controlls in control panel.  Add a 2-axis, 2-button joystick.  Make sure to mark the rudder/pedal box (check it).

Then, go into AH.  Click on setup/joystick configuration.  Then click on select joystick, then ... on the LEFT side, highlight rudder, in the middle highight the 2-axis joystick, and on the RIGHT side, highlight rz-axis.  THEN, click set-input, then apply, then ok.  Then calibrate.

Now go kill   :)

BTW, RWY's website has a pretty good writeup on this with illustrations.  His page is http://home.midsouth.rr.com/rwysairwar/

Yep, should be just fine.

If you are online now, jump into combat theatre, we can get on RW and walk through it if you like.

We got airsid's working ok just like your setup but was a x36 .

r driver works . Plus we used the joyclick program , but as Nim states , analog joystick easier .

Nuk USB don't see the x45 ? sh@t that sucks .

I just setup my X36 and USB Ch Pro's using Church's driver so that I could have rudder working in Falcon 4.0 .

Yep , unplug joystick , nuk it . Paste the Saitek driver in =

It goes in  the windows/inf file . You have to have "hidden files" enabled to see the folder .

Then the pedal driver =

It goes in here

 \Windows\System32\Drivers directory .

Then plug the Saitek back in , works .

My USB pedals always want to switch places in game controlers . The fix is to unplug the pedals , use "ch delete" program to take them out reg. . Reboot , Saitek in #1 , then go plug the pedals in again . Windows makes a new install and it sticks

  :D

Ain't hardware FUN ? hehe

OK I got NUKEUSB for the Saitek X45 to work.  So I nuked that.

I loaded up the R Only but it always says status in Not Connected in the Control Panel Gaming Options Page.  I did select Rudder/Pedals Box.

Oh Nim, BTW I have an old CH Flightstick I can use.

Too bad it is sooooo difficult for me to adjust to the rocker rudder control, but I dont see it happening!    :)

Thanks for the help everyone!  Keep it coming!!  Why do I see R Only not connected?    :)

Hidden files enabled to see the folder!!!!!  Thank you!!  I was wondering where it was!!!!
Pullin my freakin hair out!!!!!  You gys ROCK!!   :)

The link to Ron Hunt's web help files is above .

He's found the fix for the x45 not loading the right driver for xp etc . Interesting . I love hardware , hehe .

Ok , first things first .

Are you going to use your old analog joystick or the

Ok Swager are you playing games that NEED the rudder to work with only one controler ? If so you have to use "Bob Churches"

Either way you are going to have to get windows to see your feet rudders .

Use your old analog joystick like Nim said , or use the rdd driver and joyclick .

Hey man the easiest way to go is to use your old joystick to push the button to calibrate your feet rudders . Then just select them in AH for rudder control . Easy . If not leave your analog joystick OFF and use the rdd driver and joyclick and connect the feet rudders to your sound card game port .

----------------------------------------

If you have or want to use those rudders in other games that don't see both controlers like Falcon 4.0 you have to use Church's driver that replaces the rocker rudder on the Saitek throttle . Yep the rocker sucks a big one for yaw control IMO . But if used banded in AH you have two more action controls .

Sooo if you need more help , you have to tell us just what you are trying to do or play etc .

Yur question about seeing the r driver , I don't think you are suppose to check the rudder box if your using the rdd driver .

Here's a SMALL part of the instructions for the rdd driver setup
Next, start the JoyClick utility from the JoyRegs file and leave it
running on the desktop. Start the Game Controllers applet and click "Add".
Look through the choices for the controllers, you should find one for
"Rudder Only". Select that. DO NOT CHECK THE "Rudders" box. RddrOnly
appears as a two-axis stick to Windows and does not have a logical rudder
axis. Once Rudder Only is showing as active, you'll probably want to
assign it to Joystick #2. Click the "Advanced" tab and make that
assignment.

gl and take care

LMAO
  :D

I spent 63 minutes on the phone with airsid , did a complete reinstall of SGE after he had just defraged his hd , plus put his Ch regular pedals on with NO joystick with the rdd driver and joyclick . Then set it up in AH . It ain't that hard if you read the read me's and go at it step by step .

Saitek when working ok is great . But you have to do the homework to get it running right or your gonna have problems .

Hang in there Swager , when done you'll have learned alot .

Man, I feel yer pain.  I played around with that R-only and joyclick crap forever and couldnt get a damn thing to work.  The only thing I got to work for me was using the joystick to trick windows and using the rudder through it.

It is really really easy to setup this way, unless there is something different with the X45.  Anyway, I'm on quite a bit lately, hopefully you can catch me and we'll walk through it.

GL!
