My addiction #2

Okay,
I'm the most addicted player currently playing now, and I'll prove it or challenge anyone to prove otherwise. I know it sounds lame and geeky, but acually it has actually helped me as I have learned how to build computers and upgrade computers because of this "addiction". 

It all started about 3 years ago (been playing longer though) I decided to build my own simpit and had a computer built by someone else for the "pit"
Some of you may remember the posts of it.


This is the "first" pit I built, and the one I still fly in at home, although I am using a computer I built.

This next one is the second pit that I made and is basically the same as the first with a few minor structural changes.(frame is square for ease of construction and the keyboard is a shelf instead of a moveable drawer). Both of the first two models also function as computer workstations.


This currently has a 23 inch monitor and my old PC running it. All Saitek controls.


The next one (#3) was conceived for non PC gamers, the xbox and ps/3 types. It was very basic and easy to build.


This model has a 32 inch tv monitor, and may end up in the new Prineville Facebook Data Center employee breakroom being built across from my business.
 
The fourth model is a culmination of all the prior models. It is a extremely functional computer work station, a personal media/gaming  center for xbox/ps3 gaming, a personal home theater system and of course a SUPREME flight simulator. It has a 32 inch 1080p monitor, and all CH products for controls. It has an exhaust fan for personal comfort. All the shelves can be moved to multiple different locations. The shelves and removable desktop are steel backed black plexiglass. The desktop stores out of the way but inside the frame when flying.






All of the "pit frames" are easy to assemble in about ten minutes and are absolutely rock solid, as they are welded steel components slipped into steel pockets with set screw tighteners. All are completely enclosed.





I'm going to build another and plan on it being built for easier shipping.
I'm currently building a computer for it that I hope to get constant frame rates of 59-60 FPS with all settings on max for around $500.00 with the operating system.

There is a certain person that plays Aces High that has built a P38 cockpit with real P38 gauges/controls, rudder pedals and built himself an exact yoke.

No, it isn't me, but maybe I can get him to post some pictures for you all to see. It is really incredible!

I didnt make the post with the intention of selling them, but rather just to show my level of interest in the game and what it has progressed into.

My interest in the game has developed into a constant stream of progress to build the perfect platform to play and still have a functional piece of office equipment for when I actually have to do productive things with my computer as well.

Awesome setup and I have a few questions.

1. What would you charge fora set up like the 2nd one and could you make the foot area where the pedals go ply wood?

2. Is it customizable for triple monitor setup?

3. When can you ship it. LOL

I have to say that it has been a great addiction & has seen many "chairs" built just for
this jones.
I would love to show you the original chair, but it is too x-rated for public. It was a simple
leather swivel chair I found & screwed some plywood to the arms and mounted an X-52 to.
Back in the day I started on a Dell1150 on a rolling table I could pull up to. Looking at the
picture is comical now.
Then when that one broke I made a chair out of 3" galvanized steel I salvaged from a down
power tower. This was the single swing arm version

Then I got a deal on a Triplhead2go setup & an ended up with this version

Here is the painted version I took to the 2010 Convention in Dallas along with the one I built for KAZ. He has add a few very cool mods to suit his taste.
I do love this game

The one on the left is my setup with 20" Triplehead2go monitors & CH equipment. KAZ's is on the
right with 24" Triplehead2go's and Saitek gear.  I chose to use large bolts at the joints for easy
assembly/disassembly, while KAZ has modified his to be a permanent setup. Have decided to
add a tray in the back for the cpu behind the monitors kind of like you have it.

How do you like the size of the 32" monitor in that setup? Would you stay at 32 or go to 37 or 42 if cost wasn't a factor? I'm leaning to 42 but worried it might be a bit too big. If such a thing is possible.

At the current distance from the seat, 32 inch is as big as I can stand. Any bigger would constitute a larger longer frame or the eye strain would be too much.
