Oil slick
« on: January 02, 2011, 06:27:34 PM »
I was watching ships sink last night thinking after they did there should be an oil slick left on the water which would gradually spread out and dissipate.  Just a wish for a little more eye candy and realism.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Or, a slick from a damaged ship.

Something to follow to the fleet.

I dont think many people stick around once the cv is sunk.  unless there's ptboats or planes left.

I wonder if they would have the slicks according to the ship size...(IE: DD wouldn't put out a slick that a CV could) :headscratch:

For the oil leaking from a damaged ship, how far behind the fleet will it trail?  50 miles?  The idea of tracking down a fleet because of a damaged ship leaking oil will make scouting a bit easier. :aok

The slick would have to be large and long...otherwise you'd be in the puffy and already know where the TG is.

I think that the fleet would be able to pump out extra smoke to camouflage themselves better.

I would be happy with capsizing before sinking instead of the 90º sinking we have now
