Changing score - midflight
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:35:22 PM »
Can we have a one time mid-flight score choice change before any rounds are fired?  Situations do change and I like to have that flexibility.

.score (f, a, or b)

f = fighter
a - attack
b - bomber

Ugh.  I can just picture how many people would switch to attack right before they were shot down...

I never thought of it like that but it would seem pretty hard to change a scorring option before you get shot down.  Does not seem practical, but ok.

Typing .score a just takes. a second or so. No big deal if you see that enemy high on your six ready to bounce you. I could even program that as a macro to my stick.
It would be a convenient tool for the score conscious player. Fighter mission was not that successful? Only one or two kills? No problem Sir, just switch to attack before landing.

So I'm afraid I have to say  -1

There is the part where I said originally that before any rounds were fired, such as after takeoff where, sometimes I forget to choose the right scoring option.  I understand your points but lets say a time limit of 5 minutes after takeoff, and/or 1st shot can you change scores once.  Again this would be before you enter the theatre of action.

To be honest with you I wish they would get rid of the attack/fighter mode and have only 3 modes.  planes, buffs and automobiles. (non-buffs, buffs and gvs).  but that will never happen.  so forget i asked.

Bit like leaving home in the convertible, getting halfway to work and wishing you could "trade" for the 4 door sedan because it looks like rain, isn't it? Its not in the least bit realistic in any way.

You really want to switch, fly back, end sortie and up the other one.

Once you start a sortie, your locked into it until it ends by your death, bail, landing etc.

FYI if your score means that much to you, that you'd wish to change the game so you could switch.
I suggest you have a problem.

Funny how I was +1 when I read the proposed idea and then became -1 when everybody exposed the flaws associated. It was a nice idea, can't see it working though.  :(

We need a .forgetscore command.

Like many have said, once you take the car out on the road you can't switch it to an SUV until you return...or wreck. Trust me when I say that you'll enjoy the game far more when you forget about score.
