Just saying parity in the NFL my go beyond what we think it is. Any business that generates that much money, be it the NFL, or American Idol, doesnt live on chance alone. Seeing them come out and play the way they "didnt" after how they played all year has really made me question the integrity of the league. And really it only takes 1-2 individuals on a team to make the difference.

New England needed a rival in the AFC East, so the NFL has manufactured one. The regular season may be played normally, but when it comes to the playoffs and Superbowl, who knows what influences can be applied by the NFL, and Las Vegas.

Most likely that 45-3 game was setup for the playoffs so the odds were even bigger.

I love football, but when I see stuff like this it makes me wonder how long it could have been going on.

When I played baseball in High School, we only lost one district game and were a favorite to make it to State. Well round one of the playoffs we got murdered...

NFL is not fixed, #*%@# happens and sometimes at the worst times. You can not play your best every single game.
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!

Really? Teams come and teams go, Jets are defiantly on the way up, as well as the Chiefs. But teams like Indianapolis are getting old.

NFL is all about the Quarterback and defense.

I still love the passion of College Football so much more, the atmosphere of stadiums from the Big 10 or SEC is just amazing.

I was going to respond to this at work, but my post was getting a little long...

I believe there is some tinkering by the NFL and other inside and outside influences in regular season and post season play. As mentioned by Filth, I do believe Vegas and other major gambling spheres do anything they can to be a part of all major pro and collegiate US sports.

I'm not quite sure about developing a rivalry like Filth Mentioned as rivalries develop naturally, but certain things like rules and officiating are part of the equation if you ask me. Time added to the game clock, commercial & injury time-outs, questionable penalties or no-calls are their tools.

I try to look past it and enjoy the sport of football from the NFL to NCAAF, and remember that its just a game and not the center of my life.

GO STEELERS!

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

 :headscratch:

Colts:    Sacks    Median Time

Ryan Diem            2.5    2.3
Brody Eldridge    1    2.8
Charlie Johnson    0.5    2.4
Jeff Saturday    0.5    2.4
Team Sack            0.5    2.6

Steelers:

Maurkice Pouncey    1.5    2.4
Flozell Adams            1    3.3
Heath Miller            1    3.3
Max Starks                    1    2.7
QB/Play Call            1    2.3
Tony Hills                    1    3.3
Trai Essex                    1    4.7
Chris Kemoeaty            0.5    2.7
Doug Legursky            0.5    6.5
Jonathan Scott            0.5    2.7

Patriots:

Dan Connolly            1    2.7
Dan Koppen            1    4.1
Matt Light                    1    2.2
Sebastian Vollmer    1    1.9

I don't know about any of you, but the Colts have one hell of an Offensive Line.    I've seen the above quote a few times this season directed at the Colts and Manning.    You wanna know why the Colts aren't still in it?   Look at the Running Back position and stop your search.     If you dispute, I'm sorry but you need to study more.

The Steelers have given up a lot of sacks this year and 3rd down and 7-9+ ytg will dictate if they advance.    I noticed they dug themselves in "Long 3rds" too often and the well will soon run dry, as your "tendencies" will become exposed.

The Patriots have an excellent O Line as well, but as Rip said "Dropped Passes" have plagued them all year, as did the Seahawks yesterday.    Wes Welker is too "relied upon" and Branch drops too many balls or runs the wrong route.

If GB can play like they did against Atlanta, there isn't a team in the AFC that can match em, nor stop em.

dude. If you think there wasnt a rivalry between NE and the Jets before. You really need to spend more time in the NY area where the two most dispised teams are The Boston Redsox And the NE Patriots.

Yes there are other rivalries as well  such as NY Giants and Eagles. Or Jets and Miami But none compare to the pure hatred that is felt for those two organizations.

I guess maybe its a one sided rivalry. The Colts,Steelers and Ravens have been our rivals in the past decade. Jets and Bills were about the same emotional energy, with Dolphins just a notch above. Pats really havent had much in the division to play against. Once Indy left, it was still them.

Im up in NH so I dont live in the Boston area, Im sure you'd get the "JETS SUCK!" out of many Bostonians, but as for us up here, the Jets were just a team we played against during the year.

Maybe that will change over the next few years. Im sure the NFL and the media will do everything in their power to make it so.

I think it'll be the Bears and Steelers in the SB. If I happen to be wrong, I know the Packer/Bear game is going to be a huge slobberknocker  :rock

If Bears O line plays up to its potential
If Cutler doesn't try to force passes, and actually gets rid of the ball when pressured
If the Bears D line gets pressure on Rodgers consistently
If they force a few fumbles, and Hester breaks one free
Then its the Bears / Steelers for a Superbowl

if not, its those annoying cheeseheads in the crowd again...

my 2 cents

Growing up, it was always a grudge match between the Dolphins and my beloved Jets. The New England thing started when Mr Hoodie spurned the Jets for the Patriots. There are rivalries elsewhere, however, when there is a New York team involved it becomes more looked at and hyped up. The rest of the country has a hardon for anything New York. Patriots were beaten, Saints looked pitiful, Seattle looked like they didnt belong anyways.
