What about 1 World War II arena (no caps) and 1 beginner's arena (BA)capped at say 50? Beginner's arena would be based on whatever scoring system AH chooses i.e. you reach a certain score in any one month or cumulative 3 months and you must graduate to WWII arena. Average or good pilots would be prevented from entering beginner's arena based on their score. This would help new guys/gals get started and might encourage younger players to join. Just a thought.

I only tracked the Late War Arena(s) and I seldom found a total number of players greater then 500.    The more normal averaged around 436.  That 436 forced to split into two arena’s almost daily at  5PM EST.  All in the name of ?  I forget, oh yea, good game play.

If the reasons stated by AH as published by AWwrgwy  are true, then the cap system should be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  To provide a healthy gamming environment and allow the business that is AH to grow.

I find your argument flawed in that there are not 436 people playing in a single arena at one time who are forced out of one arena and then return in two arenas.

There are no caps at non-peak times, hence the name of the arena.  This allows the, say 150, people flying to fly together versus one arena with 120 and the other with 30, as occurred when the caps used to kick in.

The arenas split when there are usually in the neighborhood of 200 people on, splitting it into two, almost even, arenas with the closing of the off-peak arena.

The two arenas again close, opening the non-peak arena, when there are usually less than 200 people on.

IIRC, Hitech has stated that the "magic" number for "good" play is 150-200 and even proposed, if the split didn't work, multiple arenas capped at 150.

An uncapped arena seems to be off the table permanently.  The only way you would see one in non-peak times would be if all the "I'm quitting"ers followed through on their threats, new players stopped joining, and the overall numbers dropped to WarBirds levels.

Subjective culling of "the facts" is always fun, isn't it?
