Comcast=Worst internet provider on earth

Just a suggestion, make sure your broadband modem is connected directly to the first splitter. If you have several splitters inline between the modem and where the service enters your house, it can cause all types of issues. I have had Comcast since the late 90's and have had little or no broadband issues. I even had my own Exchange server (email) running for several years. Good luck!

I'd really love to get rid of my Comcast provider. I've had my internet disconnect on me several times a day on me at random points in time. When I tried to reconnect it, they asked if I wanted to connect my "Dial-up" connection. Never knew the other term for "Cable" was "Dial-up" !!  I would just have to wait until the internet would just fix itself.

I also get 900 channels on TV with Comcast, but I really only get 50. They just repeat the same channels again after channel 50, and to top it all off they recently blocked all but 2 channels for me until I pay them to upgrade to some unnessecary crap they want me to buy.

Don't get me started on Comcast....one service tech came in to our place in Florida and needed a power supply, so he unplugged the wires connected to all our home automation stuff in the attic.  knocked out all our cameras, door lock mechanisms and thermostats.  It would be a minor thing, except I live about 1,000 miles from that house.  Tough to get a new outlet put in and replug everything back in from that distance.

AT&T is worse, trust me.

Have had AT&T internet for years never had a problem.  Probably be getting U-verse in the very near future as it just got installed in the neighborhood.

DO NOT ever get Comcast.  Since we have gotten comcast about 3 years ago we replaced our internet modem FIVE TIMES.  They then persisted to say our constant DC problems was caused by our router. Well, we went and bought a brand spanking new Netgear today, 70 bucks.  Guess what, one hour after we had it set up, we get DCed 3 times within 15 min.......I am so sick of them, they are sending an "expert technician" out on saturday between 8 and 10, and I swear if the guy says ONE TIME its the router, I am gonna go Ape   on him.

I had a similar problem with my ISP. For 5 years my connection would constantly drop for a second at random times of the day. It made me had to reboot my router every damn time.


After many tech visits and modem replacements I ended up talking with a manager and had to try to escalate my issue to his manager before the retard decided it was easier just to send me a higher tier tech to the house rather than stay on the phone with me any longer.

Tech comes in, checks the wiring on my house, the modem, etc.. its all ok (as it always had been). I ask him to check the station/node thats the 'bridge' between the outside connection and my house. He initially refused but he ended doing it anyway.

Lo and behold it was damaged. He replaced it and problem fixed.

It depends on the area I guess, where I live Comcast is great and service is top notch. The only time our internet goes down is when the power goes out (duh) and sometimes during violent thunderstorms in the summer, but those are rare. Of course our cable system used to be Adelphia Cable before they went bankrupt and were assimilated by the borg..err I mean Comcast.

where you at, beef? comcast is terrible down here.

Comcast says we have a great connection, and the line tap is in the wall in our garage.....

Where does the main cable line tie in at the pole? That is called the Tap. Sometimes if the line is R59 and not R6 that will cause an issue. Yo always check the drop to the house first. If you know any cable guys, see if you can get them to drop some R11 to your house, that cable is the size of your finger and carry's a lot of signal.

The more breaks in the line = the less signal strength to your modem.

I just dumped Comcast after having them for over 10 years, I switched to AT&T, Comcast is just way too over priced, I was paying about $250 a month for cable, phone, & internet, now with AT&T I'm paying almost a $100 less a month, the internet is a little slower then with Comcast, but not enough to were I really even notice it, plus with AT&T I can record up to 4 things at once with the DVR, with Comcast it was only 2, and they have more premium channels then Comcast did, like more HBO & Showtime channels.  If you can in your area I'd switch to AT&T.

Yeah in the 10 years I had them I never had anything really go wrong, it was just the price, over the last 2 years they just kept upping it until like I said I was paying over $250 a month, so when AT&T stopped by my house about 2 months ago and told me what I would pay with them for the same service I couldn't pass it up, I mean saving almost $100 a month is huge.
