WWI Planes
« on: January 08, 2011, 01:39:27 AM »
I was trying to look up wiki facts about the WWI planes in the game and there doesn't seem to be any. Can someone direct me to information about them in this game please. I had my first flight in a couple today and was told the DR1 is easiest to fly and the F1 probably the hardest. :salute

Try searching under biplane and triplane, that brings up links to all four of them  :salute

The F2b and the DVII are the easiest to fly. The Dr1 has the best turn. The Dr1 and F1 are both tricky because of the gyro effect of the spinning engines.

Easiest to fight in are the DR1 and F2B. The DR1 is the best turning plane, is the strongest and takes the most hits, has the best climb rate, but is the slowest by a few mph. The F2B is the fastest, turns very well (only a little worse than the DR1), and has a rear gunner. The D7 and F1 are both very difficult planes to fight in. The D7 turns the worst out of all 4 planes, except in a clockwise turn against an F1. It's fragile, doesn't take many hits, and suffers greatly from damage. The D7 does have a few advantages though. It probably dives the best, has the best roll rate, and doesn't suffer from torque problems. The F1 has roughly the same climb rate as the D7, but is a little slower. Its turn rate is similar to the F2 in a counter clockwise turn, but in a clockwise turn it's similar to the D7. The F1 probably dives and rolls the worst, and has very nasty gyro effects.

Hi Baxter,I believe it was me that told you the above thats just an opinion based on what I know and what I witness in the WW1 arena.I didnt get the chance to go into any detail about my reasoning behind this statement it was intended as just a pointer for you as a new pilot in AH.I remember you told me you fly in other WW1 sims and from what I saw you where throwing the F1 around impressively I dont think you stalled the F1 once which is unusual for a new guy.Ravens post covers all the important points the only thing he omitted being the poor up visibility in the F1.
hope to see you in WW1 arena soon,
