Cool 190 Video
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:43:06 PM »
I found this video of a 190D-13, its an original Junkers Jumo 213 engine, note that for the first half of the video they are manualy starting it, not sure why as it had an electrical starter, which they use later on in the video, they say on the comments that the owners dont want to fly it because it is too rare (thank you  :pray) and also that this plane was restored in the 1970's and I am not sure of its wereabouts at the moment

Enjoy the sights and sounds

I have heard that there are some D-9's in the works that are going to fly, but they keep this one on the ground because to my knowledge it is the only D-13 left in existance

its labeled as a D-9 on the vid. how much do you think one of those would sell/cost to buy?

and ive allways woundered, say your rich, and you want a ww2 plane (109,p38,spitfire). can you actually call the original creaters of that plane(if there still in buisness) and pay for one to be built for you to own for civilian flight? or are the blueprints etc gone forever?

It says 190D on the video, and im not sure how much, but to find one, claim slavage and restore it to flying condition would be over a million dollars

It is D13 WNr 836017. The fuselage was originally an A8 built in Cottbus on May -44. Rebuilt to D13 by Roland in March -45.

No. You can't request a DB605D engine from Mercedes Benz, let alone the fuselage and countless other vital components. It would cost ridiculous amounts of money (even for the ridiculously wealthy, I would imagine) to craft all of these components from scratch, and all to produce only 1 plane!

Correct, Back then all of these warbirds had their own seperate jigs and tooling, and I am not sure how many jigs there are left in existance

Maybe find some flight manuals and building dimensions and things of that sort and "could" maybe figure how they were built

Oh no doubt that the Blueprints/plans still exist, but to make the jigs and tooling to actually build one would have an astronomical price tag

"Flug Werk" FW190-A8/Nachbau, or in English rebuilt/replica

http://www.touchdown-aviation.com/flying-legends/plane/muller-motors/focke-wulf-fw190-a-8n-wurger-d.php

This German company, Flug Werk, from what I remember, bought all the remaining FW tooling they could find, which was substantial, and started manufacturing FWs, though, no, they are not cheap, and they haven't built too many.

Best.
