New Bish squad!
« on: January 08, 2001, 07:11:00 PM »
Yep. I'm ready fer a new challenge... and would like to assemble a team of sharp pilots that are willin to do whats gotta be done when it needs to be done, where it needs to be done with USAAF/USN aircraft for Bishland.

For now, I'll call it the 1st Attack Group. It is possible it may be eventually melded with the TAS group as the 11th TAS.. more on that as and if it develops.

Squad Ops programme.. FAST ATTACK.

Wanted: minimum of six, maximum of 12 B26/C47 pilots, willing to crosstrain in TBM's for CV ops. Also; minimum of six maximum of 12 USAAF type qualified fighter pilots willing to fly in the close support/jabo/low cap role. Must be willing to cross-train in F6F5 for CV ops.

Minimum Fighter pilot requirements... Must be willing to fly P51D/F6F5 in JABO/Close support & escort roles, have a PAID AH account, RW, competent joystick/throttle/rudder setup; knowledge of basic ACM and be available to fly a minimum of 2 evenings per week during work-ups, 1 evening per week for squad night and fly for Bishland

Minimum Bomber pilot requirements: Must be willing to fly the B26 and TBM in the medium alt bomb role; and the C47 for field capture. Must have a PAID AH account, RW, competent joystick; knowledge of basic ACM as well as bombadier/nav/gunner skills and be available to fly a minimum of two evenings per week during work-ups and one night per week for squad night, and fly for Bishland.

All pilots will be required to display high tolerance for abuse from adversarys via text channel. Squad will engage enemy; NOT KEYBOARD. In other words, I'll not have any trash talkin amazinhunks in this outfit.

MISSION: A combined FAST ATTACK strike force comprised of B26's and P51's with the purpose of gettin the other guys beer and sheep before he even knows they are at risk.

This core FAST ATTACK squadron will make available on all it's planned missions additionl slots for compatible aircraft on it's mission planner submission..

Example: Basic squad mission.. 4 B26's; 6 P51's, (JABO) and 2 c47's. These basic core slots will be filled by the squad. The squad will also put up mission flights for P47's, P38's, additional ponies and b26's, etc to be filled by other non-squad member bishes to come along and join the fun as we slaughter our objective.

Additional squads will be encouraged to join in flying whatever A/C and in whatever role they think appropriate. Missions on the planner by other squads complementing the core attack/capture mission would be greatly appreciated.. such as High/Cap (air superiority) and fighter sweep; diversion, Heavy Buffs, etc.

Certainly; the squad will attempt to participate in scenarios where our A/C types are present; however for most MA flying the core squad will be expected to concentrate on utilising it's issue A/C.. the P51D and the B26 (F6F5 and TBM for naval ops)

The narrow focus of approved A/C types for core squad use is intentional. I'm of the highly biased opinion that profeciency in this sim is enhanced by practice in type, familiarity and confidence in these A/C will promote success in any encounter. Further; when the enemy sees a group of B26's covered by heavy ponies; I want 'em to KNOW who's commin ta take their bacon.

Contact me via this thread or on line if you are interested in joining this new outfit.

Thanks fer yer time!

Good luck on your new squad, Hang, and be sure to check out my recruitment thread below, sometimes it's better to start from ground level (Newbies) than recruiting vets, newbies tend to stick with one squad for along time and are very patriotic to ones squadron.

Thanks Rip.. read that recruiting maual with great intrest and appreciation, many great points there. Certainly I'm interested in "newbies", and will entertain all applicants once we get a few more seasoned vets on board to work with 'em.

I'm less interested in dedication to the squad than I am in dedication to Bishland. One thing that held me up in opening THIS squad up was my belief that we got waaaaaaay to many squads now concentrating on goals that don't include the country they fly for. dedication to just a 'squad' is well and good.. but thats NOT where I'm headed with the 1st/AG.

Thanks again.. and BTW.. any guys in yer outfit willin to come over on TDY for a tour??

Not sure, Hang, if I will lay that on the table or not..I did in JG2 when we had 55 members, after numerous defections back to Knightland after only 1 week in Rookland (Excuses varied from Rooks not being team players to  being tired of killing knights that they used to fly with), it ended up breaking the squadron up.  Not sure if I will ever make that mistake again.  Personally, I had a blast flying for Rooks when we transferred there for a tour.
