There is two things that separate this from a combat simulation and combat game, yeager pointed one out, the other I'm sure we all know is what makes this a Game and not Simulation.... all together now..... Score/Rank  :O   :bolt:

oh i don't know...real pilots kept a talley on their plane of kills...and I'm sure there were fights over kill stealing too..
and they had a ranking system in place also  :D

And an even better one if the people using the combat simulator, did not do everything they could to avoid combat eh?  :old:
Some years back a player I respected very much commented to me on his belief that if he could maintain a 5:1 K/D then he considered his tour a success.  I have pursued that doctrine of 5:1 per tour as my goal ever since.  So far this tour I have 177 kills and 33 deaths (5.36 K/D).  Combat for me may be different then it is for you......I dont know and I dont care how you play, but I have developed a sense of landing being preferred to dying.  I have died in the game 10,000+ times so I know how to do that, easy.  Landing kills is what gives me satisfaction these days so I do pretty much whatever I can to get kills and land em.  Thats how I play, thats how I enjoy my game time.  I try to avoid the smack talk cultists and I never insult another player when I kill him and I never fail to return a salute.

It may be different in your eyes, but there is only one definition for combat.  Avoiding it, does not make a combat simulator any better.

Exactly!

I waged combat and won against 177 player controlled machines.  33 player controlled machines waged combat against me and won.

I mean unless you are just talking about furballing.......that got ever so intensely boring around the fourth or fifth year.  Most people don't even bother after that initial onset of acute boredom brought about by doing the same thing over and over and over again and just leave the game.  Furballing, what you may be referring to as "combat" really is very limiting and unsatisfying after a while.  Especially in a game like AH where there are so many different things to do.

Me? I have reinvented the way I view/play the game several different times.  One has to do this to remain interested as long as I have.

lol, when all fails use the furbaling card  :rofl  We can argue all you want about this, but we both know that the 177 guys you killed either never saw you coming or where beaten by someone else and you cleared his 12.

Let me guess, the 33 saw you coming or you just never made it back to the ack?  You can create or modify as many definitions as you like.  What will not change is my experiences fighting you err . ..  chasing you.

CAP?  Is that you?  :D

nah...i was gonna stay outta this thread.

sheesh, it went nutso fast. one good player apologizing to another good player, and 8 pages later, it's a massive pissing contest.

and for the most part, we don't have this drama in the AvA. in fact, one can fight IN the ack all night long sometimes. i fought jc67 me p-38j vs his 109 alts ranging from the deck to alt of 3 or 4k. directly over his base. aajagerx was sitting on the runway(he ditched with no fuel) watching the entire fight.
