5 Hour energy
« on: January 26, 2011, 12:16:25 AM »
I was thinking about buying one of thous 5 hour energy drinks today and as I never had one I don't know if it's a good idea. My main concern is how bad are they for the body? I do not believe a human body can work easily for extra five hours just on some drink.

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

I drink 7 cups of coffee a day to stay awake, and figured I'd try one of these things. They are nasty, and they make you really uncomfortable. I was jittery and had a pounding headache the entire time. DO NOT BUY IT!

Not something that'll jack you up, but muscle response is excellent for a little over 1 hour.  Take 1 cup 30-45 min before whatever you're doing, and another during effort if need be.

Yeah cause those energy drinks are so good for you.  Main side effects from those 5 hour energy shots depends on you bodies response to high levels of caffeine and taurrine.  Some people get headaches and jitters others don't.

I don't really drink them though I did go through a phase where I had to drink them (USMC deployment). 5 hour energy is followed great by sprite.

I see, thanks for the input.

Does anyone know exactly how it works? I mean I doubt that such a small bottle has so much caffeine to keep you up for five hours.

One more question, did anyone have stomach problems after drinking it?

I've never had stomach problems although the stuff is kinda bad tasting.  It contains the equivalent of 1 cup of coffee's worth of caffeine, along with B vitamins and other junk, but it's very low on sugar, which is why it tastes gross.  B vitamin supplements (in liquid form) will give you a good kick without the caffeine in it.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this topic, but as far as I understand B vitamins are good and caffeine is not that bad, so this stuff it actually good for you?

I'd never touch any of the "energy drink" crap.  When I get droopy eyed I use an all natural energy drink...  it's called ORANGE JUICE and it works great.  :aok

I'm with Zoom.. If you really need 7 cups of coffee a day to function, then you have a serious dependency problem, AKA serious addiction.  I'm not a doctor, but I am a thinker, and I think that's got to be really bad for your health.  If you're young your body will handle it  OK now, but it will screw you up as you get older.

If I understand you correctly and you tried this product instead of your usual pot of coffee, then I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the jitters and headache where from caffeine withdrawal and had nothing to do with the product.

Yeah that stuff works great. I just want to clarify that I was never planing on drinking that energy thing all the time, more like a few times a year, and I'm trying to decide weather I should even do that.
