I watched the pilot miniseries and was like...
Not one remotely likable character. Apollo was a jerk, and they turn Starbuck from a roguish with a heart of gold Han Solo-type into an insolent and insubordinate squeak. Baltar went from being a megalomaniacal traitor to just some poor sap being led around by his balls by a Cylon fembot. The one REMOTELY cool thing Baltar did was randomly pointing some dude on the bridge of
Galactica out as being a Cylon to throw suspicion off himself. Until it turns out that the random dude he accused of being a Cylon actually turned out to BE a Cylon. Lame!
And wow, apparently anti-virus software doesn't exist in any SciFi universe, considering how easy it is to disable ENTIRE enemy fleets with one. It's becoming an annoying cliche watching the heroes (or villains, as the case may be) basing their entire battle plans around MS Blaster.
I also don't buy the reasoning behind making Starbuck and Boomer women. They said that BattleStar needed more strong female characters, and yet they REMOVED the series's three strongest: Athena, Cassiopeia and Sheba.
FarScape was about 1000x's better. Even the early episodes before the series really found its legs with the Wormhole plot.
