Side %?
« on: February 05, 2011, 01:35:05 AM »
I though this was to be a Axis 52% - Allied 48% when we have the opposite: axis pilots: 171, allies pilots: 206?

I mean does it really matter when theres D3A's in the picture??? Or A6M's?  It more or less needs to be 70 / 30 for this to be any kind of battle.  If you want to call it that.

Check the stats the AXIS side, they did very well.  Hard to tell if that means more points or not.  But the kills and objects destroyed were impressive.

The ratios are entirely dependant on attendance in FSO. It was 52-48 (base line) and then we had CiC issues and the rest is as it played out. In any case the Japanese scored more kills. It was a very competative frame. If you want the sides to be closer have your squad members show up. What can I say past that? its your squads guys we just set the stage. I didn't have any control over what squads showed up with what #s.

I do not care how well the axis did or allies did.  Just notice the side numbers what the percentage side was to be.

Warloc and the other CMs have no control over the final numbers. They assign percentages based on projected participation made by each squad when they make their side and ride request.
If a bunch of people decide not to show you can't blame the final numbers on the FSO CMs.

That is a lot of ppl not showing up....if that is the case.   I though that the CM would have control on the number side but, nerveless, just a observation.

No control what so ever. Just as Shifty said,

If squads have low attendance and most happen to be on one side it is out of balance.

Little low on the numbers for the Axis side, but I don't think it mattered all that much. We Axis put up a good fight last night. It was an awesome frame. I sure do love the PTO setups.

Had a similar question arise in a scenario.
Question, if there is a low turnout, will the objectives be adjusted?  Answer, no.  If a side can't turn out their required participants they are simply going to get their butts kicked.  Part of committing to an event is actually committing.  People are counting on you all to do your part, if that doesn't happen, the side suffers.

Something to consider when planning percentages is, on average, people have less experience with Axis rides since they are not usually the first choice when learning the game.  Therefore, Axis is viewed as being at a disadvantage and fewer Axis people show for the frame; which leads to fewer planes for the Allies to shoot down for score.  Those Axis pilots that do show either have some experience in their rides or participate in FSO with the motto "No weapon is too short for a brave man" and work to get the most out of what they have.  So the Axis pilots, few as they maybe, fly cautiously while the Allied pilots, with more planes to loose, fly with overconfidence.

Overall, I would say that things worked out fairly well in that, while I too tend to think the Axis is at a disadvantage, it looks like the Axis has a chance to win.  I choose to believe the CM's know what they are doing to balance the event.

<S> CMs for putting it together, and those, both Allies and Axis, who participate regardless of their rides.

Might want to restate that.  It is the PTO axis that you see that.  ETO axis, there a enough JG squadrons that know how to fly all the 109 and 190s.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the gist of the side balance issue.   :aok

The side balance was only off by a little bit.  I trust the CM's planning, skill and years of experience in putting these events together that if the numbers are off by a little bit it wont throw the frame.  They plan better than that.  And the fact that this was frame 01 (normally a more unknown) and that the sides didn't show up as planned and the frame played out just fine with the majority having fun........  I say success and lets do it again.

Theres always been that comment out there that guys wont show up if they are AXIS.  I say BULLPUCKY!!!  I haven't seen it myself and I like many in here I have been flying this for years.  Our squad numbers continue to flat and stable and I have never heard anyone, not one from my squad state they wont fly an FSO because of a AC or side choice.  The 325th VFG is historically a ALLIED squad and we enjoy flying the AXIS side and request it about 40% - 50% of the time.  Also "if" we had a guy that didn't show up because he didn't like the plane set or side choice.  He'd be ejected on the spot.

Squad turnout has everything to do with good squad internal recruiting (who you recruit) and good motovation (command and handling of the squad).  That is what controls turnout on a week to week basis.  Not the plane set or side choice.  The good guys fly because they like their squads and who and how they are lead.  Nothing less.

Viper61, what got my attention was the low turn out, 171 axis.  Agree, there are people that will not show up base on rides, sides or even what the event is. I will admit that i did not want to fly in a few events do to what it was, but i showed up anyway.
