those would be served by the LDP.

the vent valve vents(get it? vents?) air in as the gasoline is used. do you not remember the problems with the early 80's cadillacs that would act like a bad fuel pump.....till you removed the fuel cap, allowing air to vent into the tank?
if air is not allowed into the system, then the tank will cave in to a point, just as on those cadis, and the car will not run.
wow so many ...
Some cars have LD Pumps some don't. Hyundai for example doesn't use pump for testing Evap. Cap vent valve (yes i get it) vents canister, not fuel tank.
Tank doesn't need to be vented because vaporised fuel creates enough pressues as it is, fuel tank is SEALED. That's why we have "Evap leak" codes if there is leak it the fuel tank. If it were your way (vent valve venting fuel tank) MIL would on constantly.

CAP, these days people think you are self-proclaiming yourself to awesome when you reveal the slightest bit of knowledge.  It's usually sparked from jealousy or lack of knowledge.  I have read the majority of your posts in here and not once have I thought you were claiming any "awesomeness.". In fact, it makes me wish I knew more about mechanical stuff and cars so I could actually help with the race car instead of cleaning, grinding tires, and working the jack.
OK sunshine you said yourself that you have very limited knowledge of cars. So you in no position to judge who's lacking or not any knowledge, or in simple words just- shush.

based on the early cadis, fuel vapor does not create enough pressure in the system.

there is air in the tank. i know they're sealed, but air is brought into the system.

most evap codes are caused by someone running their car while fueling up, or(in the case of gm, and nissan) bad vent or purge valves.

just had a suburban a couple of weeks ago that had a stuck open vent valve. had a taurus(the same one that i pictured that heater hose assembly for)shortly after that truck......had a bad purge line.

i know not all have LDP;s. i used to replace a lot of them on chryslers about 8 years ago. they always seemed to go bad. probably due to placement.

the point is that there is indeed air in the tank. there is no way to keep it out.

KgB:  I don't have to have a knowledge in cars to see one's posting habits, personality, etc... Sweet pea.  This isn't the first time I've seen you post negative crap in one of CAP's thread.

CAP:  thanks for the advice.  The majority of the stuff I do with the race car is in between races in the pits.  I try as much as possible to get involved and try to learn as much as possible (considering, as I've said before, there's a good chance I'll be racing in the next few years.

So, what I get from this thread is that Detroit has been feeding people crap for years and years.  When people finally had enough, they made it so you would look like you were not a good American if you did not buy the crap they produced.   It seems to me that it worked so well, people fall in love with that crap and will defend it no matter what.  Then, at some point, the government came in to punish the people that did a good job and reward the companies that basically screwed people for so long and to make sure the sloppy employees responsible for producing the crap used to take advantage of consumers, were able to maintain their high paying jobs.  Excellent!!!!  I think I will make it a point not to ever own anything made in Detroit.  Plus, I got a good lesson from owning a Mustang for 4 years lol.

Sorry, I just cant get passed the the 4 liter engine producing 135hp

So, in conclusion.  Worst car ever:  Anything made in Detroit?  :lol

KgB:  I still fail to see how someone can be wrong half the time and stay in business for so long.  If CAP has been in the business for as long as he says he has (and I believe CAP), then he should have a good bit of knowledge and experience, right?

Perhaps instead of posting negatively it would be more beneficial for those of us that are ignorant of anything more involved than changing spark plugs and oil if you would post a dissenting point of view.  Short of that I'd say silence would be golden.

As an aside I've asked Caps advice on many things regarding issues on my car and have yet to have gotten an incorrect answer.

Good day sir.

i've only been in business for 3 years this coming march 7th. i've been in the field for 28 years.

i fully admit i can and have been wrong when i am. i come up on problems very very often that i do not know about, and that's when i bury my face in the manual(on the computer, which is something i could easilhy start another complaining thread about), and learn what i need to to repair the problem.

more often than not, i only need my scanner(to activate or de-activate solenoids) and my power probe to find most problems.

i have a 78 ford f-150 sitting in the bay, that i actually had trouble figuring out why it's failing for hc.........because it's been too dam long since i've worked on somethign this simple.

Let me rephrase myself,I post negative crap when he's wrong.  Old timers always have difficulties learning new things. New cars are basically computers on wheels.
I said it before i admit that  i will never be able to compete with him in Genaral car knowledge, welding skills. There's plenty old school tricks that he probably knows and i don't, but when it comes to new stuff he's little behind. It's no surprise. To run bussines, provide for family, parents not getting any younger theres is just no time  or desire to learn all that crap.

You sure are making a ton of assumptions there.  Have you tried asking him questions first?

I might be old, but asking questions seems to be the best way to establish a solid intellectual exchange.
