'nuther B-29 bug
« on: February 22, 2011, 10:47:40 PM »
when i was in the bombsight, i looked to the left to the instrument pannel, and noticed this:

the speedo points to 450mph TAS, while i was only going 329mph TAS.

i have atleast two people who can vouch for this

Without pulling out the E6B from the good ole flight bag....

Looks as if you are doing 220 ish indicated airspeed.
At roughly 25000 feet MSL, TAS should be right around 330ish (guessing)

That would correspond to what the calibrated airspeed that is showing.

As far as the "speedo"....what are you referring to?

if you look closely at the highlighted speedometer, the red needle that indicates true air speed is pointing at 450 mph. not only does this directly contradict my calibrated speed and the speed on the cockpit instruments, but also physically impossible because the wings rip off at 400mph

Simple solution is to not fly it in the MA til it's fixed.

now when has this never been the case?

i remember when 2.14 came out, with the new terrain, and the first set of bugs read like a rap sheet.

when the Sherman tank came out, same long list of initial bugs.

just be patient with them, it's a very complex design, they will get it right

Calibrated speed is set when u calibrate and does not reflect current speed.  Now long since you calibrated and for how long did you calibrate?

maybe 5 seconds after i calibrated... no way would it accelerate 120 mph faster in that time.

besides, the bug was found :salute
