While what you say is obviously correct I think what he meant is that the current engine management model does not require any adjusting of the said pitch like a real life scenario would. Throttle movement is all it takes except if you want to save fuel or glide home with no engine.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing in general though, I for one like to focus on the combat and tinker less with management.

In real life there is not any pitch change requirement. Pretty much the same as mixture control.

The primary effect of adjustments is simply extended range.

Well some required it... I recall reading about a number of P-40s that had electric pitch control. The pilot had to hold the pitch up or down to adjust as needed.

I'm sure it would come into play in a few examples. Also supposedly the Bf109E had manual pitch control, unless I'm mixing up just the E-1 with the later models. The automatic setting never worked so they did it manually or some such?
