Same here. VERY sad.
It's all over the papers.
You'd think that this sort of thing would send parents to sit down with their kids and tell them about driving safety and even give them the Driver's Ed that the state says they don't need.
Evidently not.
This is a once/twice a month occurance around here and x2 and x3 during prom season and in the summer (underage drinking).
I'm gonna get flamed for this........
it's not the states place to say if or not they need drivers ed. that is something that the parents should be doing. if this poor girl was driving like that at 15, then her parents let her down in so many ways it's almost criminal.
someone mentioned that their parents used to take them in empty parking lots to teach them. that is a good idea. most everyone i know learned from their parents.
my grand pop made my brother and i drive both the 67 mustang, and the 71 station wagon in bad weather, including snow. mom used to use us as chauffeurs, since it gave us real world experience, in all traffic situations, and weather.
that is the kind of stuff missing today. had that girls parents sat with her, and talked a little about responsibility, she'd still be with them.
my brother is a little too easy on his daughter sometimes, but i don't tell him how to parent her. i will however, be sure to make certain that she's getting driving lessons from either him, or me.
all that said, my condolences to the girls family.
