Speed of Sound...
« on: March 15, 2011, 05:21:06 PM »
Not knowing anything about game programming I don't even know if this is possible.

But I think it would be neat to have the speed of sound somehow modeled in the game.

Not a big deal at all, it just kinda bugs me when I see shells landing 1/2 mile or more away and the sound is instantaneous.

EDIT: also, I know it's been covered before but I'd like to see wind in the MA too.

Offline set some ground level wind and try a few takeoffs and landings in various directions.

cross wind landings are great fun, in a game at least.

I've always considered wind one of those "hey that's nifty" features that quickly get annoying once the novelty wear's off, sort of like night time.

not in an airplane, but in an 8" gun (TG or land-based) 10k from your target? you'd hear it, alright... or...dont ask why, but Vehicle with engine off?

But it would make a non negligible difference in ground fights, at least when your engine's off.

They're more fine in real life.  :D

Would love to try it! Only thing I have landed in real life are gliders and there was no runway :)
