<S> A8Cronin, Prowlr, HB555 (pic heavy)
« on: March 29, 2011, 02:08:25 PM »
It was likely just another normal sortie for you guys, but it was my first real attempt at flying in a WWII arena in several months.  I gotta say, you guys made it an awesome sortie.

I was on a bomber run with a friend and it started as an actual attempt to help with a base take, but soon turned into a "hit what we can" sortie.  I took B-29s (flown em maybe once before and didn't really try to do anything) and had a set of Lancs with me.  We set off about 2 sectors away from target with the intention to be engaged and engage (leveled around 12K) and right around the first target we met opposition.  Everything from there was a Wing-it flight.

Take-off:

First encounter with A8Cronin:

Right as A8 broke I had about 3 seconds to calibrate before missing any chance of hitting a target:

Seconds after the drop I see something low, a soon to re-appear foe, A8Prowlr:

A little bit after hitting the base and attempting to form back up with my flight Cronin was back:

After having a shoot out with Cronin I form up and we get a shock on our RTB:

So naturally I begin evasive flight! If I fly close to him, maybe ack will shoot him instead:

After dodging the ack I look back on our small victory only to get a real "oh sh--" moment, A8Prowlr was back in a 190D:

We have a slight issue Cap'n, but that 190 is hurting!:

Prowlr went to land after another attempt to catch back up and we found a new target to play with, at this point my Lancs had been killed and I had a gunner:

HB555 was kind enough to try a bomber to bomber fight:

A B-24 goes down after some brutal punishment on both sides of the Fight:

I slow down as my gunner and I finish them off:

Only after the fact do I realize just what he had to us:

I dropped from 16,000ft to 1,000 as fast as I could to get home (2 sectors) in a hurry as both planes were wounded and beaten beyond recognition

We finally saw home, but I had a slight issue, speed and lack of runway:

We flew right over an ally landing, but he knew how to land properly and had already stopped:

At this point I was getting told by my gunner to 'Go around and try again, we're too fast', thus I warned to brace for impact this wasn't going to be pretty:

Well we got 'er down despite all this damage, seconds later I ruddered too hard and snapped gear and smashed it more, but got a successful landing:

I've never minded losing perks, and this was well worth the loss (90 to a lost drone).  Was pure fun the whole way.  <S> guys, was fun. :)
