Base switch when war won
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:18:19 PM »
Why do the bases all switch ownership the instant a war is won? I've never seen any explanation for this, and it's a really stupid and annoying occurrence, especially if you happen to be in a perked plane when the war is won. What's the point of giving everyone 5 minutes to land their sorties when the nearest friendly base just magically teleported 4 sectors away?

Why not just leave the bases exactly the way they are when the war is won, and let people land? Or else you might as well just close down the arena and disco everyone the instant the war is won.

Yeah, but you lose any kills or damage you were going to land.

It's not the end of the world, and it affects everyone equally, but it seems completely unnecessary, unless there's some compelling reason outside my knowledge or ability to imagine it.

It's a bit hard when the base you were just flying over has all ack pop and shoot at you.

It has to do with the arena setting up the starting base ownerships for the next time it's up in the map rotation.  I saw a post from Skuzzy or someone from HTC a while ago.

Nope, it's just like being in LW when the arena shuts down: it's like you never took off. I checked after the disco today just to make sure.

Thanks for the explanation, ImADot - that makes sense, but you'd think they could come up with a way to flip that switch after the disco.

"war won by the bishops"
After arena lock about 20-25 gvs and 15-20 planes rolled to a port and the war was won by the bishops. Now the cute little map is gone.  :aok

The explanation is that it is just left over from previous methods of war wins.

I'll try to get to it this release cycle.
