this was irritating
« on: April 07, 2011, 09:17:05 AM »
First of all  :salute to shane, he flew well and earned the kills for downing at least 2 of my bostons last night, that's not what or who was irritating.  The problem was when he rammed my last boston because of a lack of ammo after shooting down the other 2 in my formation, he suffered no apparent damage to his own plane.  He rammed me twice to bring down the plane.  I thought that the way collisions where set up on AH the person who caused the collision was the one to take the damage. After I figured out he was winchester I leveled off and flew for home, no maneuvering. He came from behind both times and rammed one wing then the other. I go down and he continues to fly and avoid a team mate that showed up right after I went in.

Again I am not irritated at shane about it. In fact I would probably have tried the same thing, and was laughing and joking about it on 200 text when it happened. But the more I thought about it later the more it became a "what the hell" kind of thing. I guess even though the collision programing for AH is fair on average, nothing is perfect; I would have rather seen both planes take damage from the ramming.

ok sorry guys /end whine

very odd tmetal...  :headscratch:  no way should his plane have survived 1 let alone 2 collisions, especially if he initiated it.

Dweeby.  If you can't down all three bombers with the ammo you have, just let him go.  I suck at killing bombers and end up breaking off a lot.  In the AvA [most times] people allow the enemy to RTB after a good fight.  But, some will try to run them down...I guess others will try to run them over.  ;)

meh...like I said, I don't have a problem with the tactic he used and have tried to employ it myself a few times. It just always seems like I walk away with damage as well when I am the raming person.  This was the first time I gave the AVA more than just a passing glance to kill some time and I have to say it was a lot of fun. I will probably still spend most of my time in the MAs but I will definatly give more of my time to the AVA after last night.

heh.  i actually said i wish i filmed it...  i never collided with the boston(s) (in my view) i just guessimated that if i flew real close in front (risk dmg myself) i would miss, but due to lag he might suffer a collision.  it's nothing new. and not something easy to pull off, but it can be done. it took several passes as he only lost minor parts of his wings, not outright "boom" collison.

i had no ammo - my aim always suxxorz'd - and wow, I had a hard time positioning for the fly-bye  :aok

sure wish i filmed it.  :bhead

I'm starting to think collisions have more to do with LOS than anything else. It seems if I hit someone with my belly they splode, I'm fine  :aok I like to do this to Brewsters who are sniffing around my crotchel area   :rofl

In shanes case it's awesomeness I tell ya  :neener:

someone had posted video of himself chasing down a plane, and managing to ram it without taking damage.....it was either shane or shamus........i think shane though....this was a couple of years ago.

yeah shane you took the left aileron with the first collision and the outter half of the right wing with the second collision. Now that you explained that due to lag it didn't look like a collision on your end I understand why you didn't take damage. You gamed the game, kinda sleazy but oh well...I won't hold it against ya  :aok
