Crash when attempting to get online.

Just installed patch 2.

Initial attempt, I got to the arena selection screen, then blue screen reboot.

Subsequent tries give me a "aceshigh.exe has stopped working" window immediately. No look at arenas.  On the first attempt after reboot, I had to re-enter my name and password.

I can access my account information online, and the game runs fine offline.  Even tried re-entering my credit card info to no avail.

I turned off all antivirus temporarily (I think) to test it. Still no go.

Tried removing and adding aces high from the allowed programs. 

Tried turning fire wall off.

Tried restoring to a previous date (3 days ago). It tells me that there is a disk error from a recently installed program.  Then is asks me to check the disk.  Which then tells me to restore ... which asks me to check disk . . .

Still a no go.

I'd back up AH and uninstall and install fresh. The copy over settings, skins, stickdef etc.

The check disk finally ran. Still the same.

Time to re-install.

OK, reinstall worked. Hi-res worked.

Copying 'settings' folder sent me back to the crash.

One more reinstall without the settings.

Is there a trick to copying settings?

I did a click a drag. I ok'd the merge of the folders the first time.

Next, I deleted the settings folder, and then replaced it with the previous.

Both times caused the crash.

it is now working without a settings transfer.

Merging the settings folders always worked for me. May be  be a corrupt file somewhere I guess.

Ya you have a corrupted file in the folder thats why it's causing you trouble. If you restored your computer it could have caused it. Best things is to redo all the setting, and save the folder as a back-up. That way if you run into the same issue again your covered. I have mine on a disk that I update when I make changes.

I deleted it yesterday.

I'll check the Recycle bin when I get home tonight.
