5" guns
« on: May 17, 2011, 09:38:11 PM »
 :D  1 5"er for every 3 hangars on a base, 360 degree traverse.

# of hangars include all of them ie; VH, FH, BH

The thought being: the 5"ers could be the 1st responders to the coming horde, and possibly disrupt the attack to a small degree. Or at least be a couple more targets that they must adress.

The 3 minute base capture is getting very old.

As I've said before the game mechanics of "mission planning" gives the attackers a huge advantage, there really is no possibility of and "organized" defense, due to time constraints and most peeps look at the red blob and think Hmm to be vulched or not to be?  N O T  ! Except for retarded me

I just think there should be some way to reasonably throw a tad bit of chaos their way  :aok

When base take is not on the agenda the 5"ers would keep the cherry horde at a standoff distance so a "REAL" contest might develope  :aok

There's an easy fix for that: don't stay on channel 200, 24/7.  :aok

+1 it would at least give us a chance to try to stop the 50+plane NOE missions. (you have no chance to recruit 20-30 base-defenders in 2 mins)
A very simmilar idea was asked before, the 88mm AA gun.

OHHHH!  Great! another gun so ManAWar can add to his Kill Club :bhead
The only HO I have every attempted was with a French potato named Miss Francine.  Otherwise I stay away from the HO it makes me very nervous having 20 and 30mm shells whipping by my canopy.

I know there was some puffy ack above airfields during WWII, but shouldn't the 5'' be modified to represent a land gun (something in those lines) instead of an armored naval looking gun battery?

Were there any land based Bofors quad 40s?

Four barrels (instead of a single 37mm) and with proximity fuses - they would be nice base defense weapons.  :ahand

there were single Bofors 40mm mounts. Japanese had triple cannon mounts... arming up the bases with a couple more softies would be nice

Proximity fused, radar controlled AAA had a 79% kill ratio against V-1s over England.

So, you're right, we should be dying more.
