If I could only have 1 gun and 1 melee weapon, I'd choose an M1 Carbine and a crowbar. The crowbar is not only a very effective weapon against zombies, but you can also use it pry open locked doors and smash your way through barricades. An AK47 wouldn't be bad either since you won't have to ever worry if your gun will fire or not when the zombies are around you.

I would use a M1 Abrams tank.  Firepower and for fun....

Roll right over them underneath the treads.

A tommy gun with the 100 round drum, and a shotgun of some kind. Preferably a 12 gauge pump.

most likely walk to the nearest army base
(which is prob fort knox)

find a tank, or some type of armored vehicle, and make that my sorta "home". least it would be secure enough.

then i could run them over, not needing to waste bullets (if said vehicle is easy enough to operate)

then use said tank to break into the army bases armory.

take whats needed, load the tank full of everything.

a .22 Handgun, for longer ranges, something that runs on NATO rounds (probably the easiest to come across), and a good whacking tool. Me, my girlfriend and a couple friends (read: 5-6 man zombie party) have always made sure that we'd be ready come Z-day. Sort of as a joke, but we'd be more ready than others. You definitely do not need a large weapon, just something that will do the job quickly, efficiently and if need be, quietly.

Because our military is so efficient at killing I wouldnt need any special weapons as they would be all wiped out already.
A successful movie like zombie attack is virtually impossible.

Fuel runs out in about 4 hours.........

Realistically with a Zombie outbreak, there will be plenty of fuel and gas around to siphon off from.  Then plan a route to visit police stations, armories, pawn shops, and hunting/fishing stores to gather weapons and ammo.  Finally, stock up on twinkies from grocery stors and gas stations along with other non-perishable foods.

Twinkies will be the future standard in money for trading along with gold, silver, jewels, and Playboy magazines.  :D
