Joplin Misouri
« on: May 22, 2011, 08:00:57 PM »
Just got pounded my a multiple vortex tornado, very bad damage. It is heading east through southern Mo. and Ar., and they have a debris ball on radar! That is a first for me, a debris ball on radar.

My son lives and works there but he was in Kansas City this weekend. Anyone in the path be aware of what is coming.  :salute

Wow I've been in weather like the first picture a bunch.  Is that second picture before or after the tornado went through?

Damn Ghi you must be living right, and nice pics.  There were reports of 20 tractor trailers blown off 44 and all the signs gone.

89 dead so far but it will go much higher I am afraid.

Would you be offended if I set that first picture as my screen back ground?

Ouch!  Multi-vortex means that a bunch of tornados hit all at once, right?

This question is a bit off topic, but why is the third picture red?  Is that because of the weather or the white balance on your camera?

A multi-vortex is a tornado made up of multiple smaller vorticies. These suction vorticies cause incredible damage and these are the most violent tornados and grow to mile wide monsters or even bigger.

This is the Joplin tornado as it develops. The guys filming are a bit too excited for my liking but footage is incredible. I can't believe how fast it forms and how big it gets in such a short time.
