Normally when an invisable plane nails us its just a good bounce. But tonight i had a B17 well below me. so i engaged a 190. Bang. bang. I look back and a nik is blowing off my wing. While im floating i look around and no b17. This all happened in seconds. No way the 17 could disappear. or the nik could get on me that fast.

I've seen wrong ID's on a fair number of planes at initial ID range.
usually, it's 109's that get id'd wrong for me. But I have had b17's change to 109's, mustangs to 190's, etc.

Not real often but often enuff to make me wonder if my glasses need to be changed...

So, Moose, what kind of 1 day lenses do you recommend for us blind bats?

I SWEAR I had a DOT at my high 11 o clock ALL night yesterday. Hunted him for an entire sortie.

Of course, my glasses were dirty

I had a similar incident on Sunday evening. I thought it was because I had a few to many . In my case it was probably my own fault --- <Skernsk drools, wings over and dives on the enemy> -- I'm perfect for padding the enemy's score

A while back I was covering Ghosth as he landed a C47 to take over an vehicle depot and we were buzzed by what amounted to a black dot traveling at very high speed.  I remarked that I would like to report a UFO   .  I first thought it was a far dot, but it could not have been very far away because of the angle I was looking at it from.  Also, it changed course seeningly to come look at us, then flew away at about twice my speed. (Hum the X-files theme)
