Cockpit Clock Settings
« on: June 01, 2011, 04:27:43 AM »
I didn't want to start a new thread if the topic had already been discussed:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,160.0.html

However it appears to be in the wrong forum area (general Discussion) so I thought I should start it hear.

It would be nice if at least the minute hands were consistently synchronized with our time zones for the reasons stated in the original thread.

The clock in the planes is set to the arena time. Perhaps HTC would give us a 2nd clock to put in the corner of the screen.

Universal arena time - why would you want anything else?

P1:  Hey, hit that hangar at 22:15...
P2:  But it's 01:15 here...
P1:  No it isn't, my clock says 22:00 - you have 15 minutes to get there...
P3:  Wait, it's 03:45 here because our time zones are 30 minutes wide...
P2:  WTF time is it in the arena?
P3:  It's 14:25, but they've got the arena clock running x2 speed...

It's similar to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT (AKA "Zulu time")). This is something pilots deal with on a daily basis! If anything this is semi-realistic. I'm afraid I don't see much reason to change it.  :frown:

Agreed, game clock is same for everyone. If they don;t know where its located, in tower or in plane, then thats an issue of the individual. Someone needs to teach them if there in a squad. If there not in a squad and still can't find it, well, I wouldnt rely on that person to do what you asked of them no matter what time it was.
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

How about this : When upping a new plane, the clock will always show arena time.

Add the ability to set the clock in the cockpit to any time, as well as a button for 'select my timezone' - which
can be part of some sort of 'player profile' or player preferences.

Introduction to slightly interactable cockpits anyone?

what we need is for the clock to change times on the hour. Im not sure when but the clock will jump around so that the minute hand can not be used as a time keep.

I seem to recall that 3 AH days pass in a 12 hour period, could be wrong as it's been a good while since I've been on AH any length of time.  HiTech, could you please remind us of how the in-game clock is set to run?

Wow I find it hard to believe it has been almost 38 days since our last path. We should have release another 38 versions by now  :bhead
