Last frame for Rangoon 2011 this Saturday!
« on: June 07, 2011, 11:18:40 AM »
The current running scenario, Rangoon 2011, is having its 4th and final frame this Saturday. We had some short numbers in frame3, so I just wanted to advertise a little to the general public.

While you generally sign up for scenarios they do allow walk-on roles! Come join us, have some fun, kill some bad guys, etc!

Scenarios utilize limited lives and following orders and missions rather than MA randomness. You get assigned to a squad leader and follow his orders (he will brief you) and fly your mission. You land safely, and you keep that ride, but you lose the ride and you only get 2 lives total. It's pretty fun overall and I don't think you'll be anything but happy with your choice to be a walk-on!

In this scenario the Japanese are trying to bomb Rangoon to rubble and a rag-tag collection of what planes the allies had on hand are defending with all their might. AVG goodness at its best!

See the link here for more details on this scenario setup:
http://www.ahevents.org/scenario-current-or-next.html

Make sure to get into the arena before 3PM EST. That's when they lock it. Better to get in early. After the lock we still have to get things sorted then we'll have a launch time. Be in BEFORE 3PM!

We have had 3 fun frames so far (not counting a practice frame) and I have a feeling the outcome is very close. Help decide who wins!

See you there Saturday! SEA II.

Gotta say I dislike aircraft substitutions, but the skinning job on that 110 is masterful.  well done!

I, too, dislike substitutions. It turns out the 110C is fairly close (relatively speaking) to the Ki-45 it stands in for. Perhaps better armed.

Overall this Rangoon is very unique from past Rangoons. The planeset has been rebalanced and changed. While it works, I guess I'm a bit of a purist and hope the next one (whenever it's brought out again) goes back a bit to the previous versions. Maybe when we get a Real Ki-43 it will be better still!

Nice try, but you've seen the other angle in the Rangoon screenshots thread!  :neener:

P.S. Not my screenshots, a wingman's from Frame 3 though. I have some I need to upload.

Just to drum up more interest and bump this thread:

Yes, these are from the axis point of view, but I was axis!

(To show the Allied point of view, feel free to post some of your action shots in hopes of getting folks interested!)

It is often difficult to populate a scenario just as Spring is springing, school is ending, vacations are happening and stuff.  This was on the low end of the turnout chart, but still looks to have been an enjoyable event with plenty of action.

Let's finish this one up with a full house, and have a wonderful Saturday Afternoon with friends.

Thanks everyone for attending.

This is a walkon event, so as Krusty mentioned, feel free to participate but come in early, and Read the Arena Message :)

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.
