I was able to record that encounter, and here it is...
InCrypts Last StandThe clip is the last 14 minutes of my flight. It's at about T+50 Frame time, but I'll use T-14 to denote time till my shoot down at the hands of 5 enemy 190's. Best way I found to watch the film is on External View with the trails on. I left our sides com-chatter in the film. I just wish I could have heard the oppositions...
At T-14 you will hear the last four rag-tag elements of the VF-15 - which represents about 1/5 our original strength - call out contact with multiple high altitude Bogies. These contacts turn out to be the 110's that came in to obliterate our V-base. (An earlier enemy fighter sweep had effectively reduced us to 1/5 strength).
At T-7 You will see my last wingman, 1Wolf get shot down (Sorry buddy), leaving me in a 5 Vs. 1 Fight - the hard way. Thus begins my epic defensive fight against the 5 190's.
At about T-4 You will hear me call "Oh, Crap! I"m WINCHESTER!", indicating that I've run out of ammo.
At T-2 You'll hear me call that pieces are coming off my plane - it turns out to be an aileron.
At T-1:30 You'll hear me call out that my landing gear is out.
I never notice the fuel leak, and I didn't manage to get any radio transmissions out after my wing comes off. So, I crash to the ground in silence.
All in All, it was one tough 7 minute fight, where I was surrounded in a luff-berry and unable to get away as each 190 successfully kept me pinned with swiping attacks. I can only surmise that they were out of canons, and that the Russian Yak-9T is one tough bird. Only these two things can explain how I lasted so long. But eventually, or inevitably I dare say, I died a death of a thousand cuts. Was a good fight guys, and I <<S>> you!
