A Great night.
« on: June 18, 2011, 02:11:54 AM »
From II/JG 27.  Good fight at 53.  We were the first squadron (5 Fw-190A-5's) to intercept you.  Did not expect you to come in unescorted but then with numbers of Boston's you brought it was tough to make an impact and disrupt your attack on 53.  Well done.  As for the P-040's that attacked 53 latter you got balls.  Enjoyed the fights and will be looking to engaging you in future fights.

<S> WAGGER!!!!!!!  I was the one in Bostons you ended up chasing all over hell and back.  That was an awesome fight we had.   You flamed one, then I ditched the other so I could maneuver better.  You should have heard me screaming on vox for help LOL.  I thought I was going to get you in my nose guns 2 or 3 times when I rolled over and you almost overshot.  Then smitty joined me and started gunning for me...  but that last roll I tried on the deck ended up putting me in a tree.  :O I was laughing my butt off as I popped up in the tower.

I would love to see the film on that if you have it :)

You guys caught us just as we were turning in to make the bomb run.... perfect timing!

That chase was a hoot.  I was down to mg ammo only for most of the fight.  I kept hopping you would lawn dart because I was so frustrated by the time you did I was about to push my nose into the ground just to end it.  Salute to you and the fight that made this the most enjoyable fight I have ever had during the FSO's.  I wish I had the film but when it asked if I wanted to save it I punched the wrong button.  Talk about wanting to bang my head against the wall.

After initial contact with you guys, the Brews showed up.  Made manual calibration extremely difficult.  I was going back and forth between guns and calibration and lost where I was.  Somewhere in between, I was in betyween "U" and "Y".  Jumped into my sights and dropped a salvo of 2.  Realized I was going to be off and about 500 yards in front of my intended target, I tried a hasty calibration.  Dropped my last two and realized I was still in calibration mode and dropped 300 yards too late.

To make matters worse, I was engine, gear, flaps and other neat mechanical stuff shy of a good landing.

Went to A4 to rearm and ditch my primary bird.  On final, and JUST before I touched down (with drones on the ground) I went gear up and belly landed.  Jumped into my drone and learned a valuable lesson.  Even if they are already on the ground, when you pull your gear up in the primary, the idiot IA pilots in the drones do it too and rendered both drones inoperable.

 :bhead

So I gunned for Rodent57 on the second strike.  Some Benny Hill music was in order for that last fight as we were trying to egress.

You guys made me combat ineffective before I went doors open last night.   :salute

Was a fun mission!

Good call.  Ignore the people who actually flew the real planes against each other.

VF17 had a fun night over 53, albeit we needed more of a tailwind to catch most of those Bostons :lol.  Did any of the late P-40's catch me hiding my Brewster in the VH.  I was taxying down the runway when I heard you coming so I decided to try and hide before you saw me all vulnerable and stuff :noid :lol  <S>II/JG27 had a good time :aok

 :salute
