ISS Bremen - 4 planes only (schwarm)

Was the unit which Kurt Tank flew and scored some kills with. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they were flying out of Delmenhorst.

According to "Focke-Wulf FW-190, Volume one, by Eddie J. Creek and J. Richard Smith,

The first Focke-Wulf Industrie-Schutzstaffeln (Industry protection squadron or ISS) was formed at Bremen on april 4, 1940 flying FW-187 twin engine fighters.

Leutnant and Staffelfuher  Kurt Tank
Unteroffizer and deputy Staffelfuher  Kurt Melhorn
Flieger Johann Sander
Flieger Wolfgang Stein
Flieger Ewald Rohlfs
Flieger Ludwig Vogel
Flieger August Linde

They were subsequently disbanded  August 23, 1940 then re-established at Bremen on October 15, 1942 flying six FW-190A-4's (Black 1 through 6).
In Early 1943 another ISS was established at Sorau (now Zary, Poland). Ago at Oschersleben and Focke-Wulf Langenhagen also had ISS Staffels.

Other than describing some of the air battles and victories, the volume does not go into that much detail on the ISS squadrons. That's about all I know.
One of the ISS pilots, Kurt Melhorn, downed three fortresses on one mission by frontal attack while flying with the ISS Focke-Wulf Langenhagen. He never returned from that mission.

I don't know for sure, but would guess that they didn't fancy carrying a official record. If the brass would find out their chief engineers and technicians were also risking their lives in defense of their factories, they'd be grounded.

Oh and btw, the FW187 outperformed the contemporary Bf110 by a good margin. There were a Bf110 unit in norway equipped with 3 FW187s in the early days which requested more of the FW187s. The response was to pull them out of service and tell the pilots it was out of the question. One of the reasons the 187 was not chosen was for the lack of a rear gunner which was a RLM requirement. We know how well those rear gunners served the 110 don't we. Focke-Wulf and Kurt Tank had other ideas on how twins should be built.

As far as I can tell, the ISS guys, who were all engineers, received Luftwaffe ranks. I am not sure whether this was an RLM / Luftwaffe idea or an internal Focke-Wulf thing. More investigation is necessary.

Since my interests in this period is mostly from an engineering standpoint, I have settled on the name Focke-Wulf ISS.
Should the group grow larger than 6, then staffels can be allocated as Bremen, Langenhagen, Sorau, and Oschersleben

Crashing is OK.
All that's required is an interest in the190.

If you're interested, see me online and we will fly together.

This will be a Luftwaffe only squad with emphasis on the FW-190.

What country are you going to fly in? As I suggested, fun to tag team or fly against.

Knights. I would like to stay Knights if possible.
We have some good JG outfits on Knights. Flying alongside those units would be optimum.
However, I am not entirely opposed to other countries if that allows me to find the right people.
