WTC first responders......
« on: August 29, 2011, 08:43:09 AM »
......not invited to the tenth aniversary ceremony?  I think the part that gets me the most is that it's not being covered by the mainstream media.

They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Not invited... that's bs. I didn't see bloomberg out there digging through the rubble to find any survivors. For those firemen, paramedics and police officers who haven't yet died from cancer or other airborne stuff (to keep it bbs appropriate  :) )they have a long and painful death ahead of them. The emergency response agencies involved should have been the FIRST ones invited. They're sacrifice will not go un remembered by they're brothers and sisters nationwide.  :salute.

They can't cover everything all the time.

Its like I told a friend the other day when I first heard about this...  If the Firefighter's families get mad, then maybe I'll have an opinion.  Otherwise, I'll assume Bloomberg is doing the right thing.  The explanation on Snopes seems rational to me...

I am mad, I didn't lose any friends or family in the attacks, but I lost fellow brothers and sisters in the attack. Nothing aggravates me more then those who tell the fire/ems services they aren't welcome.

Im not saying bloomberg told them they aren't welcome, but they should be the first ones honored at the ceremonies, not" at different places different times".

This isn't a flame, its an honest question.  When you say "fellow brothers and sisters" do you mean that you are FDNY or that you're a fireman in another part of the country?  When I say "the firefighters families" I meant the actual families of the FDNY/NYPD members that lost their lives that day.  I can understand why, at first glance, someone that's a first responder in another part of the country could be angry about this, but unless those FDNY/NYPD family members think they've been wronged, I think Bloomberg's explanation is satisfactory.  If the FDNY/NYPD family members think they've been slighted, then there's probably something wrong.  For those of us in distant parts of the country, we may not have the correct perspective with which to form a correct opinion.

Not trying to sound unpatriotic or belittling what all the rescue workers did, but are you seriously saying the living rescuers should be honored above all of those who lost their lives on that day whether in the towers or a part of the response?!?!? Because thats what i read.

I don't agree with it, but people are making it out to be something its not. From what i have read, the families of all (whether civilian or rescue worker) who were lost on the site were invited.

Emergency services ran to the buildings, while the politicians, ran and hid.
Maybe you should learn your facts. The Mayor and deputy mayors and other senior officials to the city was at the WTC complex before the towers collapsed. They had been right at the Fire fighter command post right before the south tower collapsed but had went to the Police post to get more info and due to safety concerns. If you seriously blame them for that... while then i feel sorry for your ignorance. After the south tower collapsed they were then trapped in the building the Police were in. After finally being able to get of it, the decision was made to get them completely out of the area for safety concerns. Had they stayed in the building there were in, they too would have been killed from the north Tower collapse.

Almost all the news reports about this have some type of political slant to them.  As per rule #14, this thread is closed.
