I'm not saying bloomberg told them they aren't welcome, but they should be the first ones honored at the ceremonies, not" at different places different times".
Not trying to sound unpatriotic or belittling what all the rescue workers did, but are you seriously saying the living rescuers should be honored above all of those who lost their lives on that day whether in the towers or a part of the response?!?!? Because thats what i read.
I don't agree with it, but people are making it out to be something its not. From what i have read, the families of all (whether civilian or rescue worker) who were lost on the site were invited.
Emergency services ran to the buildings, while the politicians, ran and hid.
Maybe you should learn your facts. The Mayor and deputy mayors and other senior officials to the city was at the WTC complex before the towers collapsed. They had been right at the Fire fighter command post right before the south tower collapsed but had went to the Police post to get more info and due to safety concerns. If you seriously blame them for that... while then i feel sorry for your ignorance. After the south tower collapsed they were then trapped in the building the Police were in. After finally being able to get of it, the decision was made to get them completely out of the area for safety concerns. Had they stayed in the building there were in, they too would have been killed from the north Tower collapse.
