Tyrannis: I still have an SBD-5 skin partially completed. It's been on hold for a while, but my intent is to get it done now rather than wait for the 3D shape to be updated.

Lyric: The last one of the series: Shark-mouthed B with heavy weathering on the rivets.

Some more info I guess the tail numbers on this one will never be known.

(Image removed from quote.)

(Image removed from quote.)

(Image removed from quote.)
Lt. James H. Clark, 363rd fighter group, 382nd fighter squadron, P-51B C3-G 'The Mighty Midget' 65 missions, 205 hours .
Sgt. Emanuel Ehlenberger-c/c
Cpl. Peler Siku1a-ae/c
Cpl. Tom H. Strzynski-ann.

Seams as though you found it, this is additional info:

LT Chester H. Rice who was killed flying P-51B-7NA C3-G #43-6964   "Mighty Midget" on 8/13/1944
He and his wingman collided while strafing a German convoy. Crashed near St.Martin des Champs,Falaise,France, 13th August 1944 at 11.00 hours .MACR 8510.
LT Rice had been temporarily buried by the Germans. His remains were ultimately returned to Frederick, Oklahoma USA where he was buried in the family plot along with his older brother MAJ Lewis D. Rice, killed in the CBI in March 1944 in a B-25

8510 FRA 44/08/13 P-51B-5 43-6964 363FG 382FS Rice, Chester H

What I am still working on if that was indeed Rice flying this plane or if he was the wingman of Clark and he and Clark collided.

Here are the others:

This  pilot goes MIA the same mourning in the same area in the same squad flying P51B-7NA 43-7016 C3- "Frisco Kid" who's regular pilot is R.D. Kunz  I believe these two men were winging or flying in the same space, neither in their assigned plane, if they had 1, and could have possible collided. One lived and evaded the other died and was buried by the germans. Both thought to have been shot down.

On War Birds Radio there is said to be an radio interview with George Brooks but after registering there I cant figure out how to play it.

1stLt. George Brooks enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and was called up in March 1943. Classified as a pilot, George learned to fly P-51 Mustangs and was sent overseas where he joined the 382nd Fighter Squadron of the 363rd Fighter Group, 9th Air Force based in France. George flew five combat missions before being shot down during a dawn patrol near Argentan, France on August 13, 1944. Despite an injured arm and leg, he managed to evade capture and made his way to friendly lines. After three weeks of recovery in a British hospital, George found that the 363rd had been converted to a Tactical Reconnaissance Group. After bouncing around for three months he was assigned to the 9th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flying Mustang P-51B 44-13525 8O-Y "Kansas Aggie"  He finished the war with 80 weather recon missions. 85 missions total and was awared the DFC

Lt.George Brooks P-51D 44-13525 8O-Y 9th WRS "Kansas Aggie" / "Ginny"
Sgt Nance – c/c

He named it "Kansas Aggie" latter with his 2 kill markings. He had 2 with the 363FG ( credit as unconf. Destroyed) and one JU-52 with this squadron.

Interesting,

George Brooks was the father of my best friend. He took me flying when I was about 12 years old and I'll never forget the excitement of that day. A few years ago, I contacted George to see if he might be interested in participating in a project that is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) called "Timeless Voices of Aviation". He agreed to do the interview and it can be seen at the following link:

Just last month, George passed away and was buried with military honors. I was able to attend his funeral and say goodbye to a dear old friend.  Rest in peace George.
