Oh cool a new one I haven't seen.  This is the one I come across the most when I looked up the subject.

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php?topic=211618.0

There are allot of older ones to going all the way back to 2000 I think.

I would agree with Krusty its not something I really want I would prefer to control the flaps myself. But I don't have to take my hands of my controls and I'm not fighting 30+ pounds of feedback in the controls.

I wasn't referring to auto flaps in that way. On auto take off in the hog, the flaps are set for takeoff. Just curious why AH set the plane that way?

B-29 as well, for the same reason.

IIRC, all Heavies used to take off with flaps and someone would forget to raise them and wonder why they were flying so slowly.

Set up a heavy F4U1C in the hanger, then take off with no flaps.  Then you tell us why.

WOW, just wow.

Flaps are preset that way so that it's possible to use auto-takeoff from a carrier withought putting it in the drink with a full load.

DUH

Seriously really

I find the auto flaps thingy on the f4u's just irritating.. I think it would be alot better to just drop the flaps 2 notches when needed, because if you don't take off from a carrier much you don't really need them for a normal takeoff.

Instead of dropping the 2 notches the few times they are needed, we now have to raise them each and every time we take off from a field and don't really need flaps instead. But I am starting to get used to raising flaps now, it was most annoying in the start when that patch came out..

And I do fly f4u's alot, so getting used to things is not really the problem. It's more about getting tired of little issues in the long run now..

To top the icing they could add the f4u's folded wings also while they're at it. That's another carrier thing..
But I guess I would just hate it when sitting on a field runway surrounded by vulcher's, waiting for my wings to unfold before takeoff..  :furious :noid

I use no flaps as I am rolling off the cv to get better speed, when I clear the deck I deploy some to help with the extra ord weight.

you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.
