While 9/11 was tragic it is by far not the only terrible thing to happen in the US.

While mostly innocent folks were killed it is not the first or only time it has happened.

Firefighters and Police everywhere are for the most part heroes. Texas City comes to mind.

The so called news outlets on Tv are simply running this one occurence into the ground.

I personally think a monument will just give the terrorist a place to come and rejoice in their beliefs. Sort of like the the Wailing Wall.

The gun doesn't symbolize a thing.  It's just a hunk of metal.  It did nothing that day.  The gun didn't make any decisions or take any risks.

Remember the bravery of the people and the sacrifice.

I agree with Shuff that 9/11 is getting beaten into the ground for all the wrong reasons.

The sight of people jumping out of the towers to escape the flames and the dull sound their bodies made hitting the ground is etched in my brain...for eternity.

the gun is a rule #14 statement nothing more.  like somebody said a long time ago, they didnt give up the lives, it was taken away from them.  I'll never forget that day, but i also wont forget the 10 years of seeing our youth die.  my brother was there when he was just an 18 year old young man, and my nephew is back there again fighting a war that started when he wasnt even born.

The courage was from those who had a choice.   I agree that way too many folks had no choices.  Those that went in to help, knowing full well that they might not survive are the most amazing people.  It wasn't about profit, or what's in it for me.  It was an instinctive, I have to help my fellow man regardless of the risk.  No checking political beliefs, sexual preference, religion etc.  You are my neighbor and I'm willing to put my life on the line to save yours.

What scares me 10 years later, too many folks have forgotten how willing all of us were to go into the fire to help each other.  Seems like we need to find that courage again.

One thing I will always remember is how the wall of dust from the tower collapse sent people running, all you could here was screaming, then it envelopes you and the sky just went out, and then complete silence. The transition from streets filled with people and a clear sky to nearly no one with all that dust will always stick with me.

I know that day my whole perspective of the words "service", "bravery", and "heroism" changed. I know from that day on I knew I was going to serve my country in some way
