Combat Theatre detailing
« on: August 11, 2001, 06:51:00 PM »
The combat theatre is very enjoyable for me and many others.

I see the following details and additions or changes as helping to make the Combat Theatre more fun and immersive.

1. Europe Terrain: used in TOD it was breathtaking and historic. Players dont Identify Norway as quickly with ww2 as they do the english channel.

2. Tower only Radar: this requires new code. no sector bars just radar dots in tower out to 30-40 miles same as warbirds HA no dar below 500 feet.
(I request the buggy 500 feet no sector bar turned on to simulate fog  of war and sketchy enemy activity reports in the meantime)

4. field capture: requires new code that switches available planes when base captured. its gamey but it is fun      :) both sides given the c47 to capture fields. only us given lvt's, and m3.

5. aircraft available from their historic locations.

6. USAAF bases separate from british bases for gameplay (was this historically correct?)

7. german carriers removed from the battle and placed in never never land. (owned by unused country if possible)

future additions that will be very nice to have to complete the ETO theatre:

- trains roads convoys and such
- large strat targets for area bombing      :)

- ju52
- Me110G-2/Me110c-4
- Mosquito fighter bomber and bomber
- Me410
- mw50 or gm1 equipped 109g6 and 190a8
- spit LF.IX/spitXIV/spitI/Spit II
- p-40b/e
- B-24D/J Liberator ( my all time favorite bomber      :) )
- B-25C/H/J
- ju87d/g
- Bf109E
- Hurri I/hurri IId
- He111
- P-38f/p-38J

Sound like good ideas to me, especially the use of the channel terrain.   :)

All sounds good but Germans should have M3 too.

Axis should have 4'20mm Vierlingsflack indstead of the M-16. That'll teach you Golly-gee vulchers...

The current CA needs a few planes from the current plane set added..[/i]

Assuming this is a terrain/planeset marrige; and the terrain is Norway;

F6F
P51B/D
F4U

Although I enjoyed immensely the LW whines commin from Minus yesterday for repeatedly thumpin his 109G10 with a puny seafire, the three I'm asking for WERE operated by the RAF in this theatre.

Do any of you think a reduction of the time you must wait to switch sides for the purpose of helping out the side with lower numbers would be viable?
