Avatar help
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:54:30 PM »
Gentlemen  :)

Would u be so kind as to respond to my query as to "How to make my
present avatar 80x80" instead of the present 50x50? On my many attempts I always receive an error msg stating that it's too big?!

Ur assistance is courteously solicited, TY  :D

Making it 80x80 might make the file too big, NOT the physical size (80x80), but the file size. There is a limit on that also. I don't know what it is tho, sorry.

This is @ 80 x 80.  The filesize is 24.3 KB, so you should be fine.  Hope it don't look too blocky.  Just right click on it and select 'save picture as',
if you want it.

What program can I you use to create an animated avatar?
I would like to try out some new ideas.

I went online to gifka.com, but I get a message about javascript (?) and the site not loading correctly. I retry and get the same message.

Tried the search on the boards but get nothing newer than 2003 and nothing related to what I interested in accomplishing ?

I would appreciate any advice on what program to get.  :old:

Thanks, MachFly.
I went to that website and created a new avatar. However, when I tried to download it to the boards, I got a message saying it was either too large or it took too long to download.
The file is 24 kb. It is only four pictures.
From other posts I've seen that shouldn't be too large.
Any suggestions ?  :old:

I use paintshop pro to make avatars. it seems to give me a little more control if I've got an avatar made that's a little over the filesize I can generally get around that by changing the color depth.   I haven't used any of the online ones but looks like they do a decent enough job.
