:rofl you wasted time looking all that up  :lol Im not even going to read it. I dont care.

I couldn't really care less what the laws are. i dont know anyone that has gotten in trouble for it, and I think i never will. Heck, cops have even given me compliments on it, I take the cars to events and shows, and when they ask what I've done  to it I tell them. Furthermore there is cop in our little car club that also has no cats on his GTi and his wife's Rabbit. Our local track has a program called 'Beat the Heat' in which twice a month the cops show up in various cruisers and race anybody that wants too. They also bring out a few highly modified cruisers, that are basically full dragcars with slicks, but they just bracket race those. 'Beat the heat' rules are the car has to 'street legal' to race them, most kids that show up have no cats like me and they are always allowed to race.
 :noid

I have tinted headlights and taillights which are very illegal, and the cops dont care. and the window tints on the car are WAY darker than legal, still no biggy to them.
You see i live in Miami, down here some of things that pass for working vehicles is so bad that when the cops see a well cared for car the breath a sigh of relief.

my other car has open headers :O
and even worse I use red diesel in my truck. OMG!

in this case, it will actually be somewhat amusing when/if you get caught.

when i was young, and dumb, i used to do this same stuff. then i learned. i learned that i could get identical performance with high flow cats installed, as i could without.

but now i have a question....i've heard rumors that florida is going to start having state inspection.....any truth to them?

oh....it took me all of 30 seconds to find the info i posted previously.

I could have told you running no cats is illegal in less then 30 seconds, it's a FEDERAL regulation, states have nothing to do with it.

Also running red diesel in your pickup sounds like a great money saving idea, right up till the Highway Patrol dips your tank at the stock show, and hits you with a $1000 + fine.  Ask my brother about that one.  Second offense is much greater too I hear.

I know a guy who used to run Jet-A in his diesel VW golf.  He was an airline A&P and would swipe leftover fuel from doing run-ups and stuff, or any repairs that dumped fuel (once it comes out it can't go back in)

i know i didn't have to look it up. i diagnose and fix this stuff for a living. i know the laws. but you know how it is in here......say something like that, and suddenly everyone wants proof. so i simply put the regs in there with my post.

here in nj, besides regular inspection stations, there's mobile ones too. they set up points, and pull people over randomly. they built these mobile stations at the ford dealer right down the street from my shop. i'm sure nj isn't the only state doing this.

Been driving Cat free for over 15yrs now. That's why i love Florida, most of our cops dont know what a cat is and the ones that do, dont care. So, if I get caught, I get caught, as i said I'm not going to worry about it until it happens. i've never heard of anyone getting pulled over for it, or check once they were pulled over.

actually, most police don't have a clue of most of the laws, as much as i hate to say that. i was once written up for not having commercial tags on my van, because my company name is on it.....yet there's no law stating i needed the commercial tags. i beat that one in court.

it was a track driving intro type thing, classroom stuff first then 2 sessions with the instructor and briefing inbetween, debrief after. less than £200 iirc, I learnt loads and overtook an aston v8 twice and a gallardo. my instructor used the words smooth and consistent in the debrief. I'm chuffed :D

edit: btw the exige is amazing, sooo much grip, feel and adjustability. engine does sound like its going to explode at >7k though and its got one of the worst gearchanges ive ever used.

Played around with this thing for a while in HS. It was a blast.

This is my new DD, Mazdaspeed6. Currently just a mazdaspeed cold air intake (stupid decision since it has an intercooler, shoulda gone for short ram), Strut tower bar, and forge recirc valve to replace the plastic factory one. This thing just devours the miles on the interstate.
Love the speed 6's...  Check out Mazda247.com and www.6Crew.com   They have lots of good people and are very helpful.  I'm BMathis on 6Crew too (Onyx 6i owner)  :) .
