Downfall was designed to steer the battle in certain directions and create specific challenges.
The first being that the Allies would need to silence shore guns in preparation for an amphibious landing. Then the amphibious landing itself.
Apparently there has been some difficulty getting LVT's ashore. Not sure if this is a function of steep terrain, a map bug or something else.
Does anyone have ideas on this?
Enabling limited planes and only ground transports at easier to capture v-bases was to incentivize the capture of an airfield to bring air transports and medium bombers into play.
I realize that this may necessitate long boring drives in M3s, but keep in mind this is suppose to be a challenging battle designed to go back and forth and last several days if not the whole week.
By the same token, Axis would need to deploy their defenses to best counter the allied objectives.
One of our concerns was that the CV's would be taken out too quickly, so we doubled the hardness. All CV's have survived the first night, so have there been any attempts to sink the carriers? Was the hardness increased too much?
We'd like to hear your thoughts based on what would create the best challenges and most even battle, not necessary what would make it easier for the particular side you fly on.
