Skin names
« on: September 26, 2011, 03:21:51 PM »
I really do like how the skins are listed by squadron/group/etc, but I was also wondering if also included could be the plane's nickname if it has one.

For example, the P-47D-40 skin 358FG/366FS by Raptor01 would be 358FG/366FS by Raptor01 "Tarheel Hal" It would be a nice touch in my opinion, and would reduce the amount of time spent searching for a particular skin.

If the plane didn't have a name, then it would stay the same.

I'm wondering how anyone else feels about this, didn't want to start a new thread.

Yes, this was bumpworthy imo. Simple and easy change to make browsing skins easier. +1

I say no. It's claustrophobic as it is, and the character limit is already being pushed in many cases. If you happen to use the same skin often, you will start remembering which is which.

Might be interesting, but overall I'd rather not. IMO.

EDIT: It's also very ameican-centric. It only really applies to US P-series aircraft, for the most part. Or b-17/24/25s

How about a better way of looking through the skins selection. As of now, you have to click on each one. Why not have it set to where you can highlight one skin, and then use the arrow keys to scroll thru each one?

A while ago there was a suggestion made on the BBS of setting up a skins page on the AH Wiki site. Skinners (or other players) could upload a screenshot and write a brief history of each skin (what unit, pilot, where it fought etc.) together with a link to the AH site download. It just needs someone with the time and knowledge to set the page up.
