Damaged Flying Spit??

Tonight I was flying, engaged a Spit in a Nik2, shot the wing off the spit. I saw a lot of smoke & wing gone. Started to fly away, but noticed he didn't go down so I went back, shot off the tail, disengaged & couldn't believe my eyes, Spit was still up & flying. Went back shot other wing off & Spit still flying. Thought this is to weird so turned film on. Flew behind the wingless, tailless, fuesulage flaming Spit for maybe 10-15 seconds watching it turn. Just wondering, how in the heck is this possible??

I came in as well, towards the end.  I have a brief film of it... that spit looked like a target drone in offline mode.  He may or may not have disco'ed- he was actually manuevering up until he died I believe, but when i tried to message him a few minutes later it said he was not online.
