 Cap, the shaft let go up front and folded in half,that lifted the rear wheels and it slid on it's front bumper for quite a ways then caught the ditch and rolled on it's side......nasty!

 Ink, IIRC it was a challenger with the T/A striping and whatnot,it was a 340 6pack for sure,it had a wicked rapping noise when it pulled in and he shut it down.Then he started it up blipped the gas a couple times and she let go,I had to spray it with the extingisure because the oil was about tostart the car on fire.  Made 1 huge mess of our lot!!

 this was something i hadn't known......lightweight galaxies(2) were built with 289's? and ran 12's?

ya the street version had the 340...race was 303

and incidentally  another little factoid for you "ford" and "chevy" guys the first car to ever hit 200 mph in the quarter mile was a Challenger

was simply pointing out that while they were nearly a second faster than the thunderbolts, they weren't street cars, whereas the thunderbolts were.

"super stock" is a pretty highly modified class.
