Early war CV's.
« on: October 03, 2011, 01:20:00 AM »
Has the hardness of CV's changed in early war?

The current map is the NDISLES map.

Earlier today people were complaining about the CV's would not go down after been hit with multiple torpedoes in quick succession.

I tried a PT boat & a TBM all within about 30 minutes of one another with a single hit from each on the CV & only took out a soft gun or two each time & the ship would not go down.

I hit a destroyer it did sink with 1 torpedo.

I may be wrong I was always under the impression 1 torpedo = 1 ship if you hit it?

Wont even get in to how many bombs I dropped on the same CV.

It was repairing quicker than I could get back to bomb it again.

Managed to sink the CV tonight with a PT boat. Film is strange in that I gunned down the cruiser & fired off all four torpedoes. I was blown up by the fleet & was watching from the tower & it looks as if two hit & that did the job.

Film shows me sitting in a PT. :headscratch: I was not at the point of impact though.

So is two what it takes normally to sink a CV?

You need to set an alignment point (41°) for a PT Boat at the same angle for a 90° shot, then adjust if the shot is some other angle, all the way to 0°, direct frontal shot. The exact location will vary, depending on your screen resolution and field-of-view for the game.

Divide your field-of-view (from video setting in 1st game menu) in half to find angle off center, then find the ratio of pixels for 41° off center based on your horizontal resolution. If you're running 1920 x 1080, it should be below the spotlight on the left and under 50 cal. barrel on the right at default gun position. That will be the 90° deflection shot torp release point just as the fleet auto ack begins to fire.

It's not easy, but it's easier when you have a better idea of where to aim, ;)

Good luck!
