Ink: it didn't seem to change anything when I had them DL vs not, so I left them, but I will leave them off for now.

go in and delete them, every time the game starts it loads them into your ram.  

should be "C/program files/Aces High/skins"

another thing, if you installed the game into its default directory it will be in program files.....you could move the game folder into the drive itself so there are no other folders between, so it would be "C/Aces High/skins"

then don't download any skins at all, if you use a shortcut to start AH just redirect the short cut through its properties.....good luck man.

OK I'm heading out to the computer parts strip mall, with my computer guru(not a gamer). I'm going add ram, video card, and powersupply. anything else while i'm there?

just make sure to take a stick of memory with you to match what you're going to buy and make sure you buy a graphics card that will fit in that case (some of the new hi perf ones are very long). take pics of the power supply connections on the mobo, depending on the mobo, sometimes aftermarket power supplies don't have the right connections for dell systems.

Wait a minute.  1680x1050 resolution?  Are you absolutely sure that is the native resolution of the monitor?  If you run at anything other than the native resolution of the monitor, the graphics are not going to be crisp at all.

The pic of the planes as "squares" looks normal, however, if you are not running the LCD panel at its native resolution, then the "dots/squares" could get dithered to look larger than the game draws them.

For the rest, could you zip up your "settings" folder and email it to me?

Skuzzy he posted earlier that 1920 x 1080 is native but he turned it down to try to improve performance.

I upgraded my power supply to 650w. I bought a new nvidia geforce 9500gt w/ 1 gb of mem, and i upped my RAM from 6GB to 8GB.

i set the all game video and graphics setting to default and the game runs flawless. Thanks for all the help

Yes it is the native res. but to be sure I had already tried lowering the resolution and it did not fix the problem.

Your DXdiag says that 1920X1080 is your native resolution. If you aren't using that now you might take a look at what's available for your desktop and for Aces High.

HTC stopped letting the game default install to C:\programfiles\htc\aces high\ back around about the time that Windows 7 went public,  the Vista  and the Win 7 OS's were causing problems with the game client and with files being cached or written properly ( something to that effect, anyways )

the new default installation folder is now

C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High\
with C:\  being the Root Directory  ( sometimes it might be a different letter like G  or H  or whatever, depending if the builder/manufacturer  installed the OS with USB devices or Card Readers hooked up prior to OS install. )

just wanted to give  a heads up
