Wishlist!
« on: October 22, 2011, 07:08:05 AM »
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/TemporaryWishList.aspx

After 3 years of being unemployed I found a job. Not my dream job for sure but hey I'm tickled to have it. In celebration I'm thinking about this configuration.

I wonder if I need this particular i5 chip. I like it's speed. That's the only reason.

I like MSI boards as well. The power supply fits the price range. I'd like to keep it under 500 bucks or lower. Also I'm thinking about adding an aftermarket cooler. Any suggestions on that would be welcome.
I'm scavenging the case, vc, and DVD drive from my other computer. As far as the MB goes it only has one PCI-e slot. That's okay I won't be running SLI.

Let me know what you think and if you can view the list.

still don't understand why people are going after the p67 intel chipset mobos when they can get the z68 chipset mobos for about the same price. hell even the old x58 is superior to the p67 chipsets especially if you want to overclock. right now for intel chipsets, until the z77 chipset is released next year you want a mobo with the z68, q67 or q65 chipset.

msi z68 northbridge mobo with pci-e 3.0 and 2.0 (save $15)

i'm not a gskill fan but, it's better than adata (made for p67/z68 chipset mobos)

Thanks Gyrene! I made the switch for both items. That's why I posted. Picked up an extra PCI-e slot and dropped the overall cost by $5.

What's the difference besides speed in the icore 5 series; 2400, 2500, and 2500k?

I can save 20 bucks going with the 2400.

only the 2500k and the 2600k can be truly overclocked.  the others have and dont quote me some kind of oc throttle control.

I have my 2500k oc to 4.5.  it can easily do 4.9 with no problems, but I see no point going higher than 4.5.  you may say, well I dont overclock, but those 20 bucks is good insurance for the future.

With the 2500k that bumps me to 489 bucks. I wonder if newegg will be having a sale on any of those. I've got them in my wish list so I will wait and see.

future reference, you have to make it public then find it in the search. Or copy the wishlist ID from your private one, and go to someones public one and paste your ID into it.

:rofl  Obviously you haven't been around long.  This used to be a running joke:

Congrats on the job Getback.  I was sooo glad to get back to work a year and a half ago even though the hours were longer and the pay was (significantly) less.  I was out for just over a year.
