The pumpkin lights for tonights Trick-or-Treaters
« on: October 27, 2011, 07:07:15 AM »
Howdy all, I used the electronics from my Beer Bottle Color Organ to build a little display for this years Trick-or-Treaters.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGQkANTmQsM

The music is on an MP3 player. Right now it plays, “This is Halloween”, “I told the Witch Doctor”, the theme from “Ghostbusters“, the theme from “The Adams Family”, The theme from “The Munsters“, “Zombie Jamboree”, “It must be Halloween”. “Spooky Scary Skeletons”, and yes, “The Monster Mash”.

It will get used tonight for the trick or treaters, and then taken apart until next year.
My password at work had to contain exactly 8 characters… I chose Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

This town always does trick or treating on the Thursday that falls during the last full week of October.

Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

That's about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of...  Absolutely ridiculous.

That's...pretty...weird (for want of a better word).  :headscratch:

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

It’s not that weird. This town makes a pretty big deal about Halloween. The Halloween parade is the biggest one of the year. The parade is always on the Tuesday before the trick or treat. My kid is in the marching band so we stayed at the parade until her band passed by. That was over 90 minutes into it, and it was not yet finished.
Football games are on Friday night, adult parties and events are held on Saturday. It works out pretty good.

I'm not even in the competition! But then again, I’m not trying to stop traffic, just get smiles as they walk up the sidewalk.

If you hit one of the many haunted houses, cornfields, woods or the haunted railroad on Monday and Wednesday, Halloween last a full week.

No it really *IS* that weird.  Leave it to town administrators to make something much more complicated than it needs to be.  Halloween is on the 31st.  The parade should be on the 31st.  Trick or treating should happen on the 31st.  Football games are recreational and thus should not even be factored into the equation.  Sports should be worked around the "holidays" and not the other way around.

So then what?  Are people going to move Christmas to another date?  What about Thanksgiving.. wouldn't it be more convenient for it to fall on a Friday?  UH OH July 4th falls on a Wednesday next year.. how about we just push it back to Monday so everyone can have a three day weekend.  How absurd would that be?!

Give me a friggin' break.  If they ever pull that junk where I live I'll put up a sign saying "Today is NOT Halloween and as a result I will not be handing out candy tonight.  Come back on the 31st if you really want your Snickers bar"
