I highly disagree....but I guess you already know that.
yea i know. i make my opinions from experience. i get a lot of emissions problems on mazdas, before they should have them....althought hey run well otherwise. nissans i see emissions problems, and have had some flood in the winter time, when started and shut off too quickly. this shouldn't be possible on fi cars.
subaru.....have a customer that used to have an awd wrx sti. the transmission broke at only 16k miles. literally, it broke. supposedly it was something with the syncros being made of too brittle of a metal, causing them to shatter, and in that instance, they'd trash the rest of the tranny.....subaru tried telling him it was his fault. he had to take it all the way to corporate.......it took him nearly a year before they did anything with his transmission. he sold that car, and won't buy another subaru.
the other customer bought an entire new clutch set from subaru, and had me install it. this set included a new flywheel. these cars use dual mass flywheels. the car came back in 2 months, with intermittent gear jamming...sometimes in gear, sometimes out of gear.
to be honest, i thought i messed something up.....tore the thing apart again, and found it looking like there was birdshot flinging around inside the bellhousing.
what had happened, was that the bearing/bushing in the dual mass flywheel was bad. this allowed the pressure plate to rub parts of the flywheel it's not supposed to touch......causing this appearance.
he took the entire thing to a local dealer, at subarus direction. not a single one of the techs or service manager knew that the flywheel was bad. he had to show them, since i showed him.
they tried to offer him a new set at 50% off. it took him nearly 2 months to get them to handle it.
to the best of my knowledge, they've still not taken care of his having to pay me the second time, but i know he's working on that. he's also stated that this is the last subaru he's gonna own....it's ashame too, as they're nice cars.......
