Cept that it didnt for 99%
99% didnt log off. I doubt even 30% even logged off. Just enough to cause HT to change it.

Im for the return of night as I enjoyed the whole 15-20 minutes at a time it was around. I just highly doubt it will be brought back
i say a separate LW night arena should be made. dusk to dawn then flip it like they do dawn to dusk now

Again. on a properly calibrated monitor. Night should look no darker then a  bright harvest moon without  making any changes to your gamma. The distances at which you normally fight you should be able to see and fight, just fine. If anything the icons should be easier to see

what is the point then?

Proper color choices in the arena setup is critical for a playable "night". I've played around enough with custom arena settings to come up with what I think is a good mix of darkness and playability. Adjusting the color of the light helps with the mood, but a little tweak goes a long way so be careful when playing with the light.

Perhaps if enough people show an interest, I will spawn up a custom arena some evening so you can fly around in "night" and see what you really think of the idea.  :aok

As someone who was playing back in the day when there was a true night cycle (as I recall it was 10-15 minutes long) I'm in absolutely no rush to see it make a return to the MA's.  Once the novelty wore off it was just frustrating flying around trying to see your opponents.   The first few times you fly around at night you think "hey this is pretty neat!" but after a while of squinting at the screen trying to see the bad guys you just log or go afk to have a sandwich till the sun comes up.   If I had my wish we'd do away with dawn and dusk as well, I can't see anything during those times either.

My recommendation is that if you want a night time GV battle organize a group and create a custom arena to duke it out.  Night time is part of the game, it's just enabled/disabled in the arena settings as I recall.

I seem to remember the cycle being longer. 15 minutes of dusk, 30 minutes of night, and  15 minutes of dawn. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have minded if it was only 15 mintes total. Heck you can't get a beer and take a leak in 15 minutes!

If it's night it should be night -- dark night.  Horizon barely visible, pretty much gotta fly by instruments night.  Where the heck is the airfield night.  Do away with gamma adjustment so it's an even playing field, bring in some night fighters with inflight interception radar and woohoo it'll be fun.

Having a full moon is almost like cheating.  :devil

is that if you want a night time GV battle organize a group and create a custom arena to duke it out.  Night time is part of the game, it's just enabled/disabled in the arena settings as I recall.

This is the best use of the custom arena - set up your favorite map with your favorite settings and get your friends in there. Even though the player limit is 16 in a custom arena, it's still great fun if you're all fighting each other instead of off sightseeing.

The setting for night enable/disable is not really there. You can set "dusk" and "dawn", meaning when the sun sets and rises, but the game jumps right from dusk to dawn without ever going into "night". If you set "dusk" for 22:00, the sun will set at 10pm and then jump to whatever time you set for "dawn".

You have to manually set the time somewhere between dusk and dawn to have it be night - "true" night is programmed for 05:30. Set your time for that with a timescale of 0 to lock it into night. But, it's kind of neat to start at 4am with a timescale of whatever you want so the game clock advances - eventually you'll see a nice sunrise as daylight breaks.

Now I know why so many ppl cry about the night, totally ignorant ppl, 1.- search for the program in inet (free), 2.- run it, 3.- set up your monitor (not any professional thing, just your monitor, the on you already have... ) and magic!!! not even a nice try to be sarcastic.

And you don't even need to download a program... they are lots and lots of websites about that...

http://www.wikihow.com/Calibrate-Your-Monitor

Easy as typing http://www.google.com then "calibrate monitor" the magic is done!!!

The concept is simple:

"Many computer monitors come from the factory preset for an office working environment which may not be ideal for viewing and editing photographic images. For color accuracy and consistency work in a darkened environment"
"I wish people would use the wish list forum to post their brilliant ideas, and be smart enough to not post all their stupid ones.

But I am under no disillusions of my wish ever being fulfilled."

Again. on a properly calibrated monitor. Night should look no darker then a  bright harvest moon without  making any changes to your gamma. The distances at which you normally fight you should be able to see and fight, just fine. If anything the icons should be easier to see and mostly the coloring on the planes themselves that are effected. Its at larger distances at the end of icon ranges is where you loose any real visibility.

Then it's not realistic and therefore pointless.

While it wasn't 99%, it was over 50% that would log off when night came around.
